Well.. I've never heard anybody claiming that his Logan sings, nor have I seen it in a soap opera
Getting serious - Thalia is the Clio Symbol, right? (3-volume version of Clio, made in Turkey). My feeling was that they are about the same concerning materials/assembly/..., but Logan is obviously larger, and Clio has better engines (and is more expensive). Of course, I think Logan is a better choice since I bought one |

Thalia is a sexy one ! The singer of course
Clio vs. Logan ? Both have peculiar designs, both are manufactured in other countries then France. As vv pointed out, you presently have better engine options for Clio, but Logan will soon get 2 more engines, the 1.6 16v and 1.5Dci. The materials quality is better for Clio's interior, but not decisively. Clio is an older car thus more thoroughly tested. On the other hand, Logan is a fair car, with loads of space and a small price-tag. It's preferable to get the ABS version, as non-ABS versions have been mentioned as poor performers in braking. There were a number of comparative tests here, between Logan, Clio, Fiat Albeea, Chevrolet Kalos and Daewoo Cielo. In overall there were no big differences between Clio and Logan. Dynamic performance is comparable, suspensions are roughly the same, engines we talked about already. Clio scores better for security ! The main decisive argument for Logan remains the interior space and the price ! This post has been edited by cosmin_m: 3 Jun 2005, 11:53 |

QUOTE(vv @ 3 Jun 2005, 08:21) Thalia is the Clio Symbol, right? (3-volume version of Clio, made in Turkey). Thalia is the same model known as Clio Symbol but i think is made in Slovenia . later edit: sorry, my mistake, from Euractiv.com "....a position stimulated by its three manufacturing bases in this regional basin: in Slovenia (production of the Clio), in Turkey (Thalia and Mégane) and, more recently, in Romania under the Dacia brand....." |

So the Thalia is this model http://www.renault.cz/www_vozy/thalia/
The Thalia (or Clio Symbol) was one of the choices I considered when I was buying a car. The price difference in Croatia is not so big, roughly the same or maybe 1000 EUR more. Depending on the engines, aquipment, etc. I quickly dissmised the Thalia because to me the car is really ugly, but that's subjective. In one Croatian forum there is every now and then a discussion Logan vs Thalia, so I just wanted to hear your opinions. The Thalia is made in Turkey, as far as I now, and in no other countries. |

Yes, Thalia/Clio Symbol is made only in Turkey and not sold in Western Europe.
If we were to compare them, I'd say the main difference is the space you get. If you have ever sat in both model's rear seats you must have noticed the difference. So, considering the same engine, I would definitely choose Logan. But if you travel mostly alone or with a single other person, Clio has the advantage of a broader range of motorization. In my opinion this would be his only advantage. This post has been edited by Kramer: 3 Jun 2005, 14:31 |

Boris, I've heard many rumours (which seem quite plausible) that there is not going to be a new model of Thalia.... because it is being replaced by Logan. I think this says it all.

vv... sorry, but on the renault corporate site it is an announcement about the future Clio III that will be made in Turkey...
on-topic: Thalia/Clio has many problems with the interior space... the rear seats could not be used easily by tall or big persons... this is one big "-"... another "-" is the price... the quality of Logan is almost similar... so, this could not be an advantage for Thalia/Clio...the only one advantage is the possibility to choose between a large number of engine types. |

Otherwise, yes,it is so ugly I wouldn't say Clio Symbol has been unsuccessful. Quite on the contrary, in Romania at least they outweight by far the normal Clio version. As about ugliness, I think no one can argue with that :-) It's one of the ugliest cars out there, but on the other hand Logan is no beauty itself. |

I`ve seen just a few Renault Thalia in Serbia.
Suppose it was hit in Turkey where it was made. As for the beauty of LGN... Attached thumbnail(s) 045_1024.jpg ( Size: 85.73k ) Number of downloads: 231 |

QUOTE(AL @ 4 Jun 2005, 09:34) Al, because in this romanian topic someone re-stated the rumor about Logan being in fact 'Clio Symbol III', i checked the document posted above (the Renault press release) and it says nothing about a next version of Clio Symbol... even more, it says that the factory will produce the 3-door and 5-door version of Clio III, so it is clearly not the sedan... And it continues to produce the current version of Symbol (i.e. Clio II). Do you have some other information that a 'Clio Symbol III' will be manufactured? |

usually, a press release is not dedicated for only one type/model... in this case I supose the entire family of Clio (2 volume and 3 volume) will be updated to Clio III, according this press release... I think it is not usual to make in paralel Clio II and Clio III in the same factory in the same time... I think it is not efficient ...so, I supose Thalia/Clio Symbol will be also upgraded to Clio III

I have a Clio Symbol/Thalia since 2002 December. Also I drive Logan sometimes.
Yes, definitively the Logan is bigger, more comfortable on the back seats. Of course, with the increased size also the fuel consumption is a bit larger than at Thalia (+1-1.5L/100km). Thalia is based on Clio which is made since many many years. Thalia itself is at 3rd phase, it is made since 2000. By now Renault hopfully found and corrected all the bugs. We can say the Thalia is at the maturity. Logan is in the childhood .... an it is too much a Dacia. 4 years ago I bought a Dacia Supernova. The car was already made at that time since 1 year. AL and the others know wery well how many quality problem that car has. If in 2008-2009 the conclusions about Logan will be as they are about the Thalia now, it is no doubt that Logan is the better choice. We'll see .... unfortunatelly it is not possible to erase so quickly all the bad memories regarding Dacia. This post has been edited by David: 15 Jun 2005, 15:57 |

Honestly, I believe that one thing is better for the Renault: it's brand image. Otherwise, when you compare a thalia/clio symbol to a standard 3 or 5-door Clio, you notice that the design of the thalia is a little bit "pushed". Indeed, Logan is not a beauty contest winner either, but the design is more harmonius...
