Reynaldo G. Santa Cruz, Jr ‘s first book, Pulido del Barrio Libre: The Life of Reynaldo M. Santa Cruz was awarded the Mimi Lozano Best Family Story 2021 Silver Medal by the International Society of Latino Authors (ISLA). This story is a book within a book about his father’s family life, Army service in WW2 and an imaginary baseball game based on real events in the late 1930’s in Tucson, Arizona. Santa Cruz has been a bilingual educator and advocate for more than five decades, serving as bilingual teacher, program director, principal, district/county office administrator, and Superintendent. His late wife RoseAnn, was also an elementary teacher. He has two sons and their families live in the Bay Area. He has three grandchildren and a grand dog. He remarried in 2021 and lives in Berkeley and Cerritos, CA with his wife Carla.
