Laetitia Casta

"Vogue and the cinema go back a long way together, in a story lived passionately over many years. Polanski, Deneuve, Dietrich, Scorsese, Moreau, Hitchcock, Marceau, Cotillard and so many other film stars have all been featured on the cover", writes Emmanuelle Alt, editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, in her May editorial. On the cover is Laetitia Casta shot by Mario Testino, four years after he shot her for the June/July 2008 issue dedicated to French charm. The ex-runway star now turned actress is preparing to shine on the big screen in Les Adorés by Hélène Fillières and with the Cannes Film Festival just around the corner, Laetitia Casta played the sultry screen siren in an Alexander McQueen dress in a series of photos which set the tone for this special edition of the magazine, packed full of ball gowns and diamonds. Also featured in the May issue, is the work of photographer Glen Luchfor, who has immortalized ten of the hottest actresses of the moment in French cinema on the pages of Vogue. From Bérénice Béjo to Charlotte Gainsbourg, via honorary Frenchwoman Charlotte Rampling and Leïla Bekhti, they all open up to Vogue Paris. Glen also shot a fashion spread a few pages later, around a key summer essential, the black swimsuit. In beauty, make-up gets extreme with a look at the most intense pigments around, which complement a selection of retro gems in the issue's jewelry story which sees talented young actress Astrid Bergès-Frisbey slip into the role of Mademoiselle Chanel for Mario Sorrenti's lens in a look at the best of Chanel's 1932 collection of precious jewelry. Sublimissimo!
