Newlyweds Laetitia Casta and Louis Garrel Are the Next French Fashion Power Couple

French cinema is a constant source of fashion inspiration, particularly where its couples are concerned. From icons like Brigitte Bardot and Roger Vadim to current onscreen favorites Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet, celebrity duos are avidly followed for their shared style. The latest power pair is supermodel turned actress Laetitia Casta and actor Louis Garrel, who married this weekend in an intimate ceremony on the island of Corsica, near Casta’s childhood home.

For the past two years, the couple has flown under the radar with few public outings. On those, they have shown a streamlined look that feels quintessentially French. Casta and Garrel keep things simple, seeking out clean lines and neutral colors. At the Cannes Film Festival in May, they wore matching outfits, even while avoiding a joint red carpet appearance. To attend the premiere of Garrel’s Jean-Luc Godard biopic, Redoubtable, Casta chose a Saint Laurent gown with a thigh-high slit that complemented her partner’s classic black tuxedo. Heading out for a drink at the Hotel Majestic later that week, they wore his and hers separates in navy and slate.

What’s more, Casta and Garrel both have a fashion pedigree. As a former Victoria’s Secret Angel and muse for designers like Yves Saint Laurent, Casta was one of the ’90s most recognized models, before she began a successful acting career. Garrel has tried his hand at modeling, too, once serving as the face of Valentino’s Uomo fragrance, but his focus has stayed on acting and directing, following in the footsteps of his filmmaker father, Philippe Garrel. Now, the newlyweds have the chance to take their classic style to the next level, starting a new chapter as husband and wife.
