Anniversary exhibition by artist Ron Muecks at ARoS Art Museum
The iconic Boy at ARoS Aarhus Art Museum is joined by two more of Ron Mueck's captivating sculptures. Boy has now been at ARoS for 20 years, and this will be celebrated in a special anniversary exhibition dedicated to sculptor Ron Mueck's work and interpretation of the physical and psychological development of the individual.

Discover three amazing sculptures
You can now experience Boy from 1999 alongside two of Mueck's other captivating sculptures: A Girl from 2006, a 5-metre long and highly detailed sculpture of a newborn baby, and Woman with Shopping from 2013, a sculpture of a woman, slightly smaller than life-size, interpreting the timeless motif of mother and child.
Childhood, youth and adulthood
The child and new life is a theme that Mueck has often returned to in her work. By changing the scale of the motifs, Mueck creates a special lifelike quality and holds the viewer's attention: the presence of the often psychologically charged works invites us to reflect on what it means to be human and confronts our relationship with the physical, time and existence.
Art and Life
The exhibition Ron Mueck - Art and Life offers visitors the opportunity to look at the human body anew and focuses on the physical and psychological vulnerability of the individual. Between the three sculptures, the trauma and miracle of every birth is addressed, as well as themes such as overwhelming motherhood, responsibility and decay.
Ron Muecks
Ron Mueck (b. 1958) grew up in Australia and lives and works on the Isle of Wight in the UK. He has gained international recognition for his extremely lifelike sculptures that range in scale from enormous to miniature. Although the sculptures can appear eerily realistic, they never reflect the subject in its natural size.
A Girl and Woman with Shopping are on loan from The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh and the ISelf Collection respectively.
