Britney Spears is officially no longer on Instagram, but she promised she’s not gone forever.

On Tuesday afternoon, fans noticed that the pop star’s account was suddenly absent from the social media platform. But Spears assured everyone on Twitter later that evening that nothing nefarious was going on, she simply needed to unplug for a little bit to celebrate all the recent milestones in her life. “Don’t worry folks,” she wrote, “just taking a little break from social media to celebrate my engagement !!!! I’ll be back soon.” A source who spoke to People also confirmed that Spears “is taking a break, as many celebrities do. It was her decision, and nothing else should be read into it. She is in a great place, legally and personally.” But another insider confided to Page Six that the singer has also logged off as a way of making a statement. “She’s happy and in a great place, and silence can be a powerful thing and a powerful message,” they said. The source added that “This was her decision” and she wanted to take some time to enjoy herself offline “in light of the successful path that she’s been on and continues to be on [following] the news of [her engagement].”

The move comes after Spears announcement on Sunday that she and her longtime boyfriend, Sam Asghari, are finally engaged. The Grammy winner casually shared the big news on Instagram by posting a video of herself showing off her engagement ring in various poses alongside Asghari before planting a kiss on his cheek. “I can’t fucking believe it!!!!!!,” she wrote in the caption followed by a string of ring emojis. Soon after followers flooded her comment section with questions about whether or not the couple will be signing any kind of legal documents to protect Spears’s multimillion-dollar estate. On Monday, Asghari attempted to assuage fans’ concerns, jokingly writing on his Instagram Stories, “Thank you to everyone who is concerned about The prenup! Of course we’re getting [an] iron clad prenup to protect my jeep and shoe collection incase [sic] she dumps me one day.”
