The self-proclaimed “first supermodel” is speaking out against the Kardashians. Former America’s Next Top Model judge Janice Dickinson discussed her modeling career in comparison to other’s while on AfterBuzzTV’s The Tomorrow Show With Keven Undergaro, specifically going after the Kardashian-Jenner family. “We had to work on our own merit, not our 96 million social-media people that got Vogue to pay attention, or the Kendall Jenners,” she said. “Kim Kardashian made the cover of Vogue, which made me want to vomit—it was crazy. They’re not models! They’re reality-TV stars! You know, modeling is extremely hard work. You have to have perfect proportions. The Kardashians do not have couture proportion.”

When Undergaro suggested that Kendall Jenner seems to match the criteria Dickinson listed, she disagreed. She went on to name Johhny Depp’s daughter Lily-Rose Depp as a more apt model, saying, “She’s teenier, but so is Kate Moss. But Kate Moss had the proportions.” After seeing a photo of Jenner, Dickinson interjected, “She can’t beat me. That’s apples and oranges.”

Despite her strong criticism toward the bodies of the Kardashian-Jenner family, Dickinson had praise for model Ashley Graham, who this year became the first plus-size model to cover Sports Illustrated and British Vogue. “Ashley Graham doesn't give a rat’s as what I think about her, but I think for her to make [the Sports Illustrated] cover, it’s a big stand for women all over the world. You know, of course that was photo retouched too, because they all are, but I think it was a major, major, major plus for plus-size models and large women . . . I think it’s fantastic that she did that cover, and that she gave so many women hope.”

Dickinson is far from the first person to share her thoughts on the Kardashian-Jenner family’s foray into the fashion world. Project Runway mentor Tim Gunn once said, “When it comes to fashion I say to people all the time, if you want guidance for your fashion just consider this: if a Kardashian is wearing it—don’t.” Then, there was the battle cry heard ’round the world when Stephanie Seymour suggested It Girls like Jenner and Gigi Hadid be called “bitches of the moment,” which prompted Jenner to defend herself in an essay where she declared, “right now, we’re the models of this time.”

If Dickinson’s comments have any affect on the modeling industry like the previous war of the words, then she can probably expect to see more Kardashian-Jenner-Hadids on the cover of high-fashion magazines everywhere in the future. She should also await responses from the Kardashians on their apps, where familial rebuttals now occur from behind a paywall.
