The interim Government in Romania appointed a President and Prime Minister yesterday as chilling details emerged about the execution by firing squad of former President Ceausescu and his wife Elena.

The couple’s last words were: ``We want to die together,’’ and they were shot side by side without being blindfolded.

An army captain in the National Salvation Front, the organization acting as the provisional Government, said that several hundred soldiers had attended the couple’s trial and that every one of them had volunteered to join the firing squad. Three had been chosen an officer and two soldiers.
