Best Poiana Brasov Snowboarding

Northeast of Bucharest and southwest of Brasov in the Carpathian Range, the Poiana Brasov ski area has 6 pistes totaling 25km served by 7 lifts accessing a maximum vertical drop of 760m. The slopes are equally divided by difficulty, though favoring beginners and intermediates. The best Polana Brasov snowboarding can be found during the months of January and February.

This is the largest and best known resort in Romania, though it is often thin on snow. Even though they get over 28 feet of snow annually, there is usually not more that 15 inches of base.

When there is enough snow, there are plenty of off-piste routes through thickly gladed pine forest, such as Bears Forest. If you are looking for some decent freeriding, check out the glades in the Pistavarul region.

Poiana Brasov is surrounded by the following mountains: Postavarul 1799 m, Piatra Craiului 2238 m; Bucegi 2505 m; Piatra Mare 1848 m. To reach the snowboarding at Poiana Brasov ski center from Bucharest, drive south for three hours. Alternately, you can take a train to the Brasov train station. The town of Brasov is about 13km northeast from the resort of Poiana Brasov. There are buses every half an hour from Brasov up to Poiana Brasov, or you can grab a taxi.
