Research On The Methods Of Surveying
Surveys and Happiness: A study on the different techniques used to persuade individuals to participate
in survey taking
By: Zachary Bernal
University of Kansas
Abstract
Many studies have been done regarding researchers abilities to obtain information from individuals
from various methods of surveying. Drawing on the social psychological factors of persuasion and
compliance, studies have shown that if individuals receive something from the researcher (e.g. money,
conversation, advice) they are much more likely to agree to participate in the survey due to the norms
of reciprocity (Groves et al., 1992). Another key factor in determining people s compliance with a
request draws on the ideas that individuals in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Over the years I started to wonder what the most effective way was to address new customers.
Sometimes I would approach them and before I say a word they already dismiss me with an, I m good,
thanks. Making it quite clear they don t want my help or anything I m selling. So I started to ask
myself what leads to the most customer involvement and willingness to be sold to? I finally began to
notice that if the customer was simply asked how their day was going, or first primed with casual
conversation before asking if they needed any help on the sales floor, they were much more likely to
request my help or ask a question. These interactions between customers lead to broader implications
of persuasion and compliance. Compliance is defined as, Responding favorably to an explicit request
by another person. (Gilovich, et al., 2013). Persuasion is defined as, The action of influencing
someone or of being influenced to do or believe something. (Gillath, 2014). These mechanisms of
persuasion and compliance could carry larger implications outside of the retail setting. It seems as
though people are much more likely to be compliant to a request and succumb to persuasion if they
are in a better mood. Therefore, if salespeople, telemarketers, charities, and other institutions were to
add a more personal experience to their target they will increase the likelihood of that individual to be
persuaded or

Dietary Intake Of Sodium Essay
1) The correct amount of sodium is important in the body because it helps control blood pressure and
regulates the function of muscles and nerves (http://healthyeating.sfgate.com/actions sodium human
body 8362.html). Sodium attracts and holds water to help maintain the blood pressure, but if you
consume to much sodium the body will hold on too much water which can increase your blood
pressure (http://healthyeating.sfgate.com/actions sodium human body 8362.html). Sodium comes from
a variety of food. A mistake that people make is believing that sodium is only found in table salt. Most
of the dietary sodium that is added during cooking and at the table only makes up about 11% of the
body s intake of sodium. Meaning that the added table salt is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It would benefit him to incorporate some healthy habits, in order to lose weight. A few tips the help
Hugh s lose weight would be to exercise more and eat smaller portion of food, but also remembering
to no skip meals (http://www.webmd.com/diet/features/lose weight fast how to do it safely#1).
Skipping meals such as breakfast can have a domino effect. Some people believe that if you skip a
meal you are more likely to eat more and crave more for your next meal
(http://www.humankinetics.com/excerpts/excerpts/skipping meals can have negative consequences).
This could lead to an extra calorie intake. Also when Hugh skips a meal he is depriving his body of
essential nutrients that supply him with energy. This can lead to him feeling lethargic, and also giving
him less motivation to exercise (http://www.thedailymeal.com/cook/6 reasons you shouldn t skip
meals). Hugh also needs to incorporate healthy meals instead of fast food. I would recommend that
Hugh cooks extra food that consists of healthy foods such as vegetables, grilled lean fat meats, and
whole grains the night before work and then make him a plate for work. This would help prevent
Hugh from eating fast food on his lunch break, and still not be inconvenient. One of the other big
factors for Hugh to lose weight would be exercise. As of now the only exercise that Hugh is getting is
short walks with his dog and day to day activities. This means Hugh is living a

Immorality In We
The Use of Mathematical Concepts to Symbolize Irrationality in We Yevgeny Zamyatin s We is a
dystopian epistolary novel about an engineer, D 503, and his experiences up until the time the Integral
is finished being built. The Integral is a spacecraft that will be used to travel to other planets and
spread the philosophy of OneState, which is the perfect society that D 503 lives in that runs solely on
logic and mathematics. Because D 503 lives in this logical world, he depends on math for a rational
explanation for everything; and ever since D 503 has been introduced to the square root of negative
one and the concept of infinity, he fears that these irrational concepts will disrupt the perfect
mathematical world that he lives in. In short, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, an important use of the concept is used after the revolution is announced. In record 30, D
503 says that OneState s revolution was the last revolution and there cannot be another. I 330 argues
by asking what the final number is. When D 503 says that there is an infinite number of numbers, I
330 replies by saying that, There is no final one. The number of revolutions is infinite (Zamyatin 168).
D 503 likes to think that their revolution was the last one. However, since there is an infinite number
of numbers, there is also an infinite number of ways to live and an infinite number of revolutions.
There is no one to say that any revolution is the last. This concept of infinite revolutions frustrates D
503 because he believes there has to be a limit, but in reality there will always be a constant change
and things will never stop. The best thing that people can do to prevent this change is to limit the
number of revolutions or rebellions. The way that OneState does that is to try and limit the people s
individuality and imagination. By limiting the individuality and imagination of the people, OneState
believes that there will not be any revolutions. However, there will always be a couple of people that
will slip through the cracks, like I 330. That is why there is going to be a revolution that will ruin
OneState. And after that, there will be another revolution that will ruin the next and this will go on

The Role Of Sexuality In The Happy Prince And The...
Oscar Wilde s fairy tales have been embedded in the educational system for more than one century
and a lot of children enjoyed the rich imagery that is provided in his fairy tales. Even though some
critics argue that his tales were not meant for the younger audience, Wilde himself said that the tales
were written for both children, and a certain class of adults as well (Duffy, 2001). However, his works
can lead a reader to the understanding of his life and his views about particular topics including
morality, aesthetics and sexuality. In this essay, the main focus will be on his portrayal of different
kinds of sexual relationships in two fairy tales The Happy Prince and The Nightingale and The Rose .
After the analysis of these stories one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Prince as an older male dialogically teaches the little Swallow to care for misery, and the Swallow
consoles the Prince with tales of Africa and the East (Wood 2002, 165). At the beginning of the story
the bird is arrogant and selfish character that decides to rest on the statue just because it was made of
the most precious metal. He is excited to have a golden bedroom , and shows disappointment when he
realized that the statue is not a solid gold (Small 2003). Later in the story, [t]he swallow archives
selfless transformation not from moral perspective, but out of love and admiration for the Prince
(Dalarna 2007, 15). With his older lover he archives a self knowledge, and learns that the true love is
worth dying for. However, Wilde himself on one of his trials said that [Love that doesn t dare to speak
its name] is intellectual, and it exists between an elder and a younger man, when the elder has
intellect, and the younger has all the joy, hope, and glamour of life before him. (Hyde 1975, 292) This

Theme Between Rear Window And Disturbia
Sitting alone trapped inside my home watching my neighbors. This setting is a description of the plot
in the films Rear Window by Alfred Hitchcock (1954) and Disturbia by D.J Carusso(2007).These two
films contain many similar themes which are a part of the movie s plot but are slightly different. The
two films both contain a vast amount of voyeurism presented in different ways. In both films women
are treated rude, disrespectfully and are victims of violence. Both films also share the theme of
Isolationism which contributes to the plot, tone and development of characters. The films are so alike
in comparison and little in contrast that it would lead you to believe that Disturbia is a modern remake
of Rear window. First off let s discuss the voyeurism presented in both of the films. In the film Rear
window Jeff is shown on numerous occasions was shown watching a woman from his window
dancing and, changing in her underwear while smiling at the sight. This form of voyeurism is shown
in Disturbia when kale is also shown watching his neighbor Ashley from his window on many
occasions while she is swimming and changing clothes. Kale also was shown watching women in
swim wear on his TV. The contrast of voyeurism in the films is that in Disturbia it is shown more. The
theme of voyeurism is presented almost the exact same way between the two films. Secondly in both
films women are treated rudely, disrespectfully and are the objects in which violence is inflicted upon.

Essay on Elitism in American Politics
Elitism is the belief or philosophy that a particular group of persons with exceptional abilities,
specialized training or experience, wealth, or other unique characteristics, are the people whose
interpretations on different matters are to be taken most seriously. More simply, some believe these
people are best fit to administer or whose understandings or actions are mostly likely to be beneficial
and profitable. Otherwise, the term elitism could be used to pronounce a condition in which power is
in fact focused in the hands of an elite, whether rightly or wrong.

This group of elites can efficiently order the goals for all or nearly all significant government policy
making. They may also lead the actions of educational organizations and mass media in today s
society. Their power can easily be seen by their financial resources and also on their rankings among
the top of the big corporations, and believe it or not, it does not depend on whether or not they can
gain large amounts of support through labors to embody interests and the good of social groups in the
United States. The elitist theorists and a large portion of Americans believe, that this country cannot be
run by powerless masses of average voters to chose a leader well fit to lead our nations in the right
direction.
Many Americans believe that the United States government is untouchable by the everyday citizen,
and in many ways this is very true. Yet a democracy depends for its very livelihood on expressive
contacts between the people and the government. For example, campaigns and elections focus on
citizens and remind them that they have ultimate power, the vote. The campaigns of recent years are
increasingly extravagant and much longer than those of the past. Costing millions upon millions of
dollars, enticing the attention of the public anyway imaginable. With all of the expense and glamour,
the course of electing government officials offers peoples with important information concerning
matters and candidates credentials for office. Interest groups

The Moon Landing Was Not a Hoax Essay
The Moon Landing Was Not a Hoax
Some Americans now ask, Was the moon landing a hoax? Is this actually possible; would the U.S.
government lie to our nation, let alone the whole world? The answer, no, should jump out. Hoax
believers (HBs) thought they researched this thoroughly and gained enough evidence to prove that the
moon landing was a hoax, but they don t know jack! Their whole case can be compared to a brick
house with one difference. It seems like the bricks have all the corners, sides, and shape of a house.
The evidence seems to be very strong, but the bricks are only one dimensional. All the supposed
evidence crumbles after a little research. In this report I will show HBs falsified case along with the
truth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This case does not hold truth on the moon. Since there is no air on the moon, only the dust that is
physically touched is blown (Bad). This means that footprints not directly affected by the rockets can
still be. What else can possibly be brought up dealing with the absence of atmosphere on the moon?
The flag ripples in the photographs taken by the astronauts; therefore, the force of wind causes this.
This assumption is entirely false. In most of the photos, the astronauts are placing the pole of the flag
into the moon which of course is causing movement of the flag. Now, the biggest kicker is the
photograph showing the astronaut standing on the side of the flag. The design of the flag can explain
this. To compensate for the lack of an atmosphere on the lunar surface, the flag assembly included a
horizontal crossbar to give the illusion of a flag flying in the breeze (NASA). Now it is time for some
more nonsense. How did the astronauts survive the trip to the moon if they needed to pass through Van
Alen s Ring? For everyone that does not know, Van Alen s Ring is a ring of radiation that completely
surrounds Earth 500 miles above it s surface. Yes, they would have been affected if the metal
surrounding the spaceship did not protect them , but that s the thing the metal blocked must of the
radiation from entering. Also, they passed through the ring in about a hour so there was not much time

Life Long Learner Approach For Teaching
Having believed in life long learner approach, every now and then I have learned from others at
numerous instances. Before CELTA, teaching was just a mundane practice for me. I was very much an
average teacher and barely try to link with any student. Throughout this whole learning process, I have
enjoyed learning through edutainment, a blend of education and entertainment that enhance learning
tremendously. The guidance and assistance given by my mentors are still working exquisitely; for
certain it was a magnum opus. CELTA reformed my teaching practice; I am on the crest of a wave
since then.
Besides, every teacher can narrate numerous highs and lows in their teaching career. Personally, I
experienced many great moments while teaching. Over my last 8 years of teaching and working in
education, one event stands above the rest as my absolute best teaching experience. Through the years,
I learned so much about teaching and dealing with students. Recently I graduated with TESL Ontario
and TESL Canada from Canadian College of Educators, Canada.
Today TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) plays an imperative role in Canada. TESL
Canada National Certification Standards for Instructors of English as a Second Language or Foreign

Cohn is a notorious American writer but he still shows his insecurity. One of the reasons for his
insecurity is that Cohn is one of the few men in the story who is revealed to not be a veteran of the
war. Cohn also experienced a lot of racial discrimination as a Jew when he went to Princeton
(Hemingway, 12). To compensate for his self consciousness, he became the middleweight boxing
champion of Princeton (Hemingway, 11). Despite his athletic achievements, Cohn is still portrayed as
feminine. His first wife left him before he could leave her and the next woman he had a relationship
with was very forceful and she treated Cohn as a careless possession (Hemingway, 13). The woman,
whose name is Frances, took advantage of Cohn s insecurities and she used them to dominate, not
letting him look at another woman (Hemingway, 13). Cohn s weakness for women causes him to

Persuasive Essay On Community College
Every semester there is a fight to find a parking space on campus. I began Northshore Technical

rapidly, Northshore relocated the business department to the North campus of Southeastern Louisiana

The Search For Prosperity In Mac s In Dubious Battle
In today s world, it seems everyone is fueled to work only towards the dream of wealth. Without the
promise of payment, people will turn their back on their neighbor without a second thought and
continue on the search for prosperity. In the novel In Dubious Battle, we meet Mac, a hard working
party member doing everything in his power to help struggling laborers make the wage they were
promised before setting out for the California apple orchards. Almost immediately after the strike
begins, Mac comes to the realization that there likely is no chance of the workers winning the strike,
yet he continues to fight for his beliefs. Some may interpret this as selfish for risking the lives of these
workers, however this is undoubtedly false as Mac risks his own life alongside the other strikers. Mac
also has no financial reward for helping with the strike and is spending his time educating the workers
a valuable lesson on how to strike that will help them in the larger strike that Mac sees ominously
approaching. From the moment Mac arrives on the apple orchard, we see that he is not afraid to risk
his own life for the sake of the party. In a conversation with Jim, Mac reveals how the party is larger
than any single member, no matter how important that member may be. Mac goes on to express that
he is willing to give up his own life in the wake of a larger, nation wide strike he foresees coming very
soon. Mac expresses this idea to Jim, saying if I go out now it won t matter. The

Trotsky and Stalin Essay
Trotsky and Stalin
I think that without Trotsky s contribution to the revolution it wouldn t of been a success I think this
because Trotsky was put in charge of organising the revolution by Lenin and this might show that
Lenin believed that Trotsky could do great things and this also means Lenin must of trust Trotsky as
he picked him very carefully. I also think as this was a vital job Lenin must of thought that Trotsky
was the best man for the job. Trotsky also had organised the Bolsheviks in Petrograd. He did this
because it was the capital city and it was very important to take control of the strongest part first this
showed Lenin that Trotsky was very clever.

I think the reason that Stalin and not Trotsky emerged as Lenin s successor because Stalin was a
strong Bolshevik believer from the beginning unlike Trotsky who was a bit of a glory supporter and
only came onto the Bolsheviks side when he knew that there was going to be a revolution happening
in 1917 that he could be a part of. I think that if Stalin didn t know that a revolution could take place
then he would of stayed a Menshevik supporter. Stalin also thought that if they started the revolution
in one country (Russia) then they could get power in that country and then the army would have to
join the Bolsheviks making it bigger to take over one country one by one. Whereas Trotsky believed
that they should take over a few countries at once this was a very silly idea as they would not be able
to pull it off as they were not quite big enough to do this and Lenin saw this.
Stalin was a very hard worker from the beginning to the finish and he was a very healthy man around
the time that Lenin died whereas Trotsky was a sick man and he also still had that glory supporter
nametag. Stalin was a very sneaky person he knew what he needed to do and he did well and truly

Abstract
Power over Ethernet or PoE is a technology that dispense electrical power and data transmission to
devices, such as IP cameras or phones, access points wireless or bluetooth. PoE devices that are placed
in remote locations stop not only the need for power outlets, but also cut down the installation costs
and enable the network devices to be adaptable in that region. Consumers and vendors of IP phones
were either supplying local power through an AC (alternating current) electrical outlet or using non
standards based proprietary solutions to provide inline powering. The release of 802.3af came ... Show

Since PoE is used by terminating equipment it consumes little power.
Besides being used in IP telephones, cameras or wireless transmission, PoE can assure a better safety
of a network while it operates as an inessential power supply. PoE makes the network planning
flexible and independent of switch cabinets and sockets. For a better security, it is necessary to shut
down all the PDs that are not in use or not necessary in the office or where are being used. Also with
the popularity of the PoE. it is very easy to use PoE with a variety of other devices.
On one hand, we have Power over Ethernet PSE (Power Supplying Equipment) which supplies PoE
PD devices with electricity via the data cable and is also a source of voltage. It may use either End
Span or Mid Span. The end span method basically means that there is a hardware device such as a
PoE capable switch at the beginning of the twisted pair cable. A PoE capable switch simply defines a
switch that has the capability of transmitting DC voltage over the twisted pair cable along with data.
Figure 1: Power supplied from LAN equipment with end span PSE
The other method, known as Mid span, provides power on the twisted pair cable at some point after
the switch/router but before the device you are powering. An example of a Mid span device would be
something like a Single Port PoE injector (Planet3 Wireless, 2005). A Single Port PoE injector has a
port for the incoming Ethernet cable, a cord for the

Comparing Of Mice And Men And What s Eating Gilbert Grape
What s Eating Gilbert Grape Dir. Lasse Hallstrom and Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck are two
very similar pieces of storytelling about caring for the misfortunate. In Of Mice and Men George cares
for his mentally challenged friend Lennie, and in, What s Eating Gilbert Grape, Gilbert takes care of
his mentally disabled brother Arnie. Both George and Gilbert care more for the well being and defence
of their loved one, than they do for their own well being in most cases. In the end of What s Eating
Gilbert Grape, Gilbert s mother dies; in a dramatic and tangible gesture to rid himself of his past,
Gilbert burns their house down. In a symbolic similarity, at the end of Of Mice and Men George kills
Lennie in an effort to release him of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
George kills Lennie not because he doesn t like Lennie but because he s tired of dealing with him, and
he wants to be able to start over and have a good life, and he knows he can t if Lennie is around.
George is always saying how he wants him and Lennie to live on a farm but is always doubting if
Lennie can stay on track, and he is always wondering if Lennie is gonna mess up their chances.
Comparably Gilbert s decision to burn down his house is his way of proclaiming his starting over, and
symbolically saying that nothing good ever came of that house and that nothing ever would. Gilbert is
talking to Becky and is saying how much he hates living in his house and that he hates how lazy and
fat his mom is. This is more obvious for Gilbert because throughout the whole movie he is completely
selfless and only cares about taking care of his family. Both of their decisions were very important to
show that they were finally taking control of their lives, and that they decided to finally do something
for themselves. Unfortunately in order to do this both characters looked to destructive and violent
ways of freeing themselves. Perhaps these burdens were so great that they had to take destructive
measures to alleviate themselves from them, or perhaps they simply never learned another away and
had to take extreme measure to enact any change in their

The Limitations of GDP as a Measure of Well Being
The Limitations of GDP as a Measure of Well Being A primary aim of governments economic policy
includes economic development and management. The presence of a growing economy is perceived as
a positive characteristic; with increasing gross domestic product (GDP) being interpreted as positive
sign of social well being (van den Bergh, 2008). Countries with a high GDP have higher taxes paid to
government, who may use those taxes to provide public services such as education and health, which
in turn supports the well being of the citizens. Despite this the measure is often criticized as an
indicator of well being. To appreciate the value of GDP as a measure it is necessary to look at what it
is and how it may be used as well as recognize the limitation of using GDP. GDP is a measure of
economic activity in an economy. The measure can be calculated in three ways, measuring the output
by calculating the value of all the goods and services produced within a country, as expenditure,
measuring the value of all goods and services purchased with in the economy, which will include the
value of exports, but required reduction of imports, lastly the income measure, where GDP is
measured through the level of income generated, mainly through profits and wages (BBC News,
2011). Therefore, the GDP seen measurement of economic activity and since the 1960s there has been
a proliferation of statistics utilizing the GDP, usually on a per capita basis, as a proxy to indicate social

Rock Candy Research Paper
The main principle behind rock candy is called crystallization. Crystal is formed when molecules of
the substance arrange themselves in infinite repetitive arrays. Rock candy is made with pure sugar
cane, which gives it its unique taste. The first inventor of rock candy is unknown but it can be traced
back to India and Iran from the 9th century. Early on, as recounted in the writings, twigs would be
used as a device for the crystals to grow on. Over time, the plain white sugar crystals were decorated
in a custom that continues to this day. Adding to Arabic writings, rock candy has been mentioned in
writings which dated back to more than 700 years ago. It was also mentioned in a Persian poem in the
mid 13th century. According to historical records, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Liberal Election Victory of 1906 Essay
The Liberal Election Victory of 1906 The Liberals won a landslide election victory in 1906. It is
claimed that the loss of power for the Conservatives was largely due to a decline in fortunes as the
party split due to issues over tariff reforms. On the other hand it is assumed that the loss was due to
the complacency and the neglect of Workingmen s Interests. Arthur James Balfour had become the
Conservative leader in the House of Commons and served (1891 92, 1895 1903) as the first Lord of
the treasury. He had succeeded his uncle as Prime minister in 1902. A huge task lay ahead of Balfour,
as poverty was to be a focal point at the beginning of the 20th century. Although it is reputed that ...

The South African wars (1899 1902) resulted in a review made into the armed forced due to its poor
showing. Many men (of poor background) lost their lives, which in turn voiced concerns throughout
the country. This obviously reflected poorly on the government and produced a psychological shock
also as Chamberlain lost to the radical cause by his espousal of Imperialism, which proved to be a
double disaster for the Tories as it tied in with the Boer War. This allowed room for the Liberals to
capitalise on this advantage and to begin snatching the working class vote from the Conservatives and
people like Lloyd George enabled them to do so. He was a great orator and along with Churchill they
relentlessly tortured the Tory s throughout the campaign, attacking them as enemies of the people.
They carried this out effectively as they produced campaigns, slogans and songs, which were widely
accepted. The prevailing atmosphere of the Boer war made sure that Conservative credibility was
undermined when the Chinese slavery affair was publicised. The public seemed to be impressed by
this issue. Political insensitivity of Balfour s government was indicated as

Essay about Catch 22, by Joseph Heller
Catch 22 is a story about the different personalities that can be involved in a war. Out of all the
different archetypes, the three I ve chosen are John Yossarian, Albert Tappman, and Milo
Minderbinder, although, not in that order. The first character being analyzed is Yossarian, the
unwilling hero of this book. Although the book labels Yossarian as the main character, he constantly
tries to coward out of going to battle. The second character that will be described is Milo
Minderbinder, the archetypical business person of Catch 22.He runs the camp mess hall and controls
what everyone in the camp is buying, selling, and eating. Milo is constantly trying to control or
manipulate the economies around him, and after he gets a large commission ... Show more content on

It was like seditious and insidious too, and like socialist, suspicious, fascist and Communist. It was an
odious, alien, distasteful name, a name that just did not inspire confidence. It was not at all like such

The quote above describes the relationship with Colonel Cathcart, in which Cathcart has a worrying
doubt about Yossarian and his role in the squadron. Yossarian complains to Doc Daneeka about
Colonel Cathcart s dictum regarding the mission count during every visit to the medical tent. Cathcart
s opinion about Yossarian also dawns upon the other men who start to wonder about the man with that
name and who he actually is. One of the main points within the story is when the soldiers question
Yossarian during the death of Lt. Mudd, whom the men continuously call the dead man in Yossarian s
tent (Heller 166). A character that changes Yossarian completely about war is Snowden. After
Snowden s death, Yossarian is given a medal of honor for fighting through that battle, but unlike the
other men, Yossarian shows up in a disorderly fashion. He realizes that he doesn t want to be in a war
like atmosphere anymore and starts to long for his trips throughout Italy with Milo, Orr, Nately, and a
couple of others from the squadron. It is after these trips that Yossarian tries to weasel his way out of
the squadron by feigning sicknesses and pleading for Doc Daneeka to claim him insane. While

The Relevance of Fair Use Doctrine in the Digital World
Abstract. Different proposals have been made to restrict the fair use exception in a digital context.
Digitization provides tools to detect private digital copying of a protected work and to limit it. This
may allow title holders to prevent practices that have been important for educational and scholarly
purposes. Given the power conferred by the technology, fair use exceptions established by the law
may become inapplicable and substantially affect access to information, particularly in developing
countries. The protection of databases, as established or proposed in some jurisdictions, may
aggravate this problem. The development of new principles for the application in this context of fair
use needs to be considered, including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For that reason, the fair use doctrine consistently creates difficult issues for you and your clients. It is
ironic, then, that fair use is the copyright issue most likely to confront an average copyright user. Fair
use issues arise in a wide variety of everyday contexts, including the classroom, the boardroom, the
record industry, the theater, and the movie industry. Typical fair use conflicts likely to arise in practice
include: copying for educational purposes both in the classroom and the boardroom ; quoting from
copyrighted sources in reporting, reviews, and scholarly research ; uploading or downloading
copyrighted material to or from a website; sampling copyrighted material in sound recordings or
including copyrighted material as scenery in a motion picture or theater set; and use of copyrighted
material in a parody. 3. Basis of the fair use doctrine The fair use doctrine creates a limited privilege in
those other than the owner of a copyright to use the copyrighted material in a reasonable manner
without the owner s consent. It permits unauthorized uses that otherwise would constitute
infringement but are deemed noninfringing because they advance the underlying constitutional
purpose of copyright law: to promote broad public availability of literature, music, and other forms of
creative arts. The constitutional principle

The Rugby League
Rugby is a team sport played on a field. There are three main forms of rugby rugby league, rugby
union and sevens. This paper will focus primarily on elements that they have in common. For the first
two forms, there are thirteen players on the field for each team. A game is eighty minutes long and is
divided into two halves of continuous action.
The objective of rugby is to carry an oblong ball down the field and across the opponent s goal line.
This is the main scoring play, known as a try. A try is worth five points. In order to count for a try, the
player must take the ball across the goal line and set it down on the ground. The point at which the
ball is set down is used as the basis for the try at goal. This is a kicking play, and it follows a try. The
team that scored the try attempts to kick the ball through the upright goal in the middle of the field. If
successful, the try at goal is worth two points. The other way that rugby teams can earn points is
through field goals. This is earned any time a player kicks the ball through the uprights of the
opponent. This can happen from open play or on a penalty, and is worth one point.
Rugby is played on a large field and the players wear little equipment. There is no mandatory
protective equipment, despite the high level of contact in the game. Some players do opt to wear head
gear or mouthguards, and also shin guards to protect against cleats.
There are a number of positions on the field, generally divided

would that be fair that the man who killed Hamlet s father goes to heaven? So Hamlet doesn t kill

Celiac Disease And Celiacs Disease
Celiacs disease (gluten sensitive enteropathy) is a condition where in some people, gluten cannot be
digested and causes an immune response. Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, oats, and rye. In
some people who take in and ingest gluten, an enzyme named transglutaminase transforms the gluten
into a chemical that triggers an immune reaction, causing irritation and inflammation of the lining of
the small intestine (Wedro, 2016). The microvilli that make up the inside surface of the intestine are
destroyed, causing nutirents to pass without being, like our body needs from our diet. This can cause
damage to other organs in the body due to malabsorption. (Wedro, 2016) Organs that depends the
most on nutrients to function properly consist of the liver, bones and the brain. This is crucial
especially in children because malnutrition can lead to abnormal growth and development. (Wedro,
2016) Celiacs disease can also be known by Coeliac Disease. Roughly 8,000 years after its first
appearence, celiacs disease was identified and named. A Greek physician named Aretaeus of
Cappadocia who lived in the first century AD, wrote about The Coeliac Affection. Also, he called it
koiliakos after the Greek word koelia meaning abdomen. (Guandalini, 2007) Another 17 centuries
passed, and in the early 19th century Dr. Mathew Baillie, presumably unaware of Aretaeus, published
his observations on a chronic diarrheal disorder regarding adults, causing malnutrition and

Consequences Of Vengeance In Aeschylus s Oresteia
Have you ever acted out in retribution for something done to you? Some examples could be if you
punched someone for intentionally kicking you, or if someone deliberately hurt the feelings of
someone you love and you retaliated in kind. You probably thought the punishment you received for
your actions was too harsh or lenient. Many factors went into the decision of what discipline you
received for this act and some were fair while others probably were not. This is true for the actions of
many people in Aeschylus s Oresteia. In each of the three plays, someone is seeking vengeance for a
wrong done unto them, someone they know/love, or both. For this paper, I will be focusing on the
vengeance enacted by Clytemnestra, Orestes, and the Fates. The vengeance that each person enacted
was deemed just or unjust depending on many factors including the people who were doing the
judging. Vengeance in Aeschylus s Oresteia is viewed through the social lens of the society that it was
enacted in. This lens is made up of the popular values, beliefs, and social conventions of the period as
well as the judge s personal views and/or experiences. These factors (such as gender and relation to
the victim, as well as the presence or absence of transgressions on the characters part) lead to different
opinions about the guilt of the accused individual and the individual themselves. The view of
vengeance in Aeschylus s Oresteia is very subjective.
The society that is present in The Oresteia is very

1050 s Film Industry Analysis
After the 1050 s television became a very popular form of entertainment. Because of the cost of a TV
set there were only a few sets in the home of the consumer. For post World
War II Americans, television largely took the movies place as a dominant cultural influence.
The television reached audiences far larger than those attracted by motion pictures, and it projected
images right into family s living rooms. The Paramount decision effectively disintegrated the studio

The Curse Of Humanity Is The Inescapable Presence Of...
I carry a red sweater, a fair amount of cough drop and gum wrappers, pencil shavings, and 3
calculators, 2 of which I rarely use. If someone were to weigh the contents of my backpack, there
would be significant error in the approximation. The curse of humanity is the inescapable presence of
sentimentality and emotion, things which often latch onto physical objects. So in measuring the things
I carry, one would have to take into account the burdens which cannot be seen by the limited scope of
the human eye. The greatest weights I bear are attached to the smallest of articles; a sunscreen bottle,
an albuterol inhaler, and two pills of ibuprofen. I carry the knowledge of my inherent flaws and the
insecurities that come from having these inadequacies through all of my darkest moments, and
sometimes even my brightest. To be reminded of the breadth of human flaw is humbling to an extent.
When the things which I carry, like my albuterol and sunscreen bottle, are constant reminders of my
own weaknesses, then this humbling idea becomes a destructive one. The fact that the albuterol
inhaler treats an incurable disease is not what makes my burden so heavy. The albuterol inhaler calls
to my mind the idea that I am unable to change the intrinsic parts about my person. While this may
seem to be an obvious burden, one which we must all face, it is nonetheless a burden that can at times
inhibit self confidence. The inhaler reminds me that there are things which asthma prevents

Examples Of Individualism In The Great Gatsby

luxurious and modern things like dress, parties, gorgeous villa, cars and railway. However, there is no

Even though William the Conqueror descended from a line of Vikings who had lived in France for
over 200 years, William had more of an impact on the English language than the majority of
influential English born people of the time. The French speaking Normans brought a whole new
vocabulary to England, whose language was closely related to German. (Barlow 8). He even
introduced the Norman legacy of building castles, including the Tower of London. Although he is
most well known for the Norman invasion of 1066 that overthrew the Anglo Saxon reign which had
lasted for over six centuries, William was a very religious man. He was moral and righteous by the
standards of the time, and devoted much of his time to the Norman church. William was born in 1028
and was the only son of Duke Robert I of Normandy who later died on a voyage to Jerusalem. After
his father s death in 1035, he was knighted at the age of fifteen and the Norman magnates accepted
William as duke even though he was an illegitimate child; he was actually known as William the
Bastard. This caused William serious problems later in life and he had to overcome several massive
obstacles one of which was surviving numerous rebellions; which his mother somehow got him
through. William relied heavily on King Henry I of France for protection. He faced substantial
difficulty maintaining control over Normandy but by his early twenties he emerged a powerful leader.
William then gathered an army to protect his estate. He

Multiple Biological Theory
It is widely known that there are multiple biological theories and psychological theories of addiction.
In this paper, I will select the genetic inheritance theory of biological theories of addiction and the
addictive personality theory of psychological theories of addiction to illustrate how both theories are
different and similar. In addition, I will discuss if I would use these theories in my future practice.
First of all, the genetic inheritance theory is one of biological theories of addiction, and its perspective
is that biological (genetic) inheritance influences the addiction behavior much stronger than
environment and life experiences. The twin and adoption studies suggest the significance of genetic
inheritance influences in male, and heritability of male twins studies is approximated from 49% to
64% (McGue, 1999). From the research, we can obvious to see how the ... Show more content on

A study found that 18% people have antisocial personality disorder and illegal drug use disorders and
9% people who have alcohol use disorders more than the 4% in the general population (Szalavitz,
2015). The implication of this study was that even though antisocial traits are one of determinates of
substance use disorder, most people who have addictions do not have fully fledged ASPD and most
people who have ASPD don t have addictions (Szalavitz, 2015). Both biological and psychological
theories of addiction influence current practices. Biological theories emphasize the importance of
physiological factors including genetics. Thus, when counselors have therapy with clients, they may
think about the reason why some people tend to be unable to control themselves once they begin. It
may because heredity that happen within the body. However, psychological theories have different
views of addiction, which consist of personality theories and other related psychological theories. It
may be explained by personality disorder

Thomas Dorsey Research Paper
Good versus Evil, Heaven versus Hell, Sacred versus Secular; these were the internal and external
conflicts faced by the blues artists of the 1920s and 30s. There was no in between, but Thomas Dorsey
didn t see much of a difference, they both reflected the African American experience. Many of these
artists, like Charley Patton and Blind Lemon Jefferson, negotiated this chasm by recording a few
sacred tunes though always under a pseudonym. Thomas A. Dorsey, also attempted this delicate
balance of recording and performing blues while writing spirituals and church music. While his time
and discography as Georgia Tom and as a member of the Hokum Boys is well known to aficionados, it
was this time served in the secular world that aided him ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1932, Dorsey s wife, Nettie Harper, who was Ma Rainey s wardrobe mistress, and their newborn
son died with a day of each other after the child s birth. His sorrow inspired him to compose the now
Gospel standard Take My Hand, Precious Lord. This composition fused the religious hymn with the
rhythmical and emotive blues music into what became Gospel Music, which for a longtime were
referred to as Dorseys. Gospel is not simply the cross pollination of the spiritual hymn and the
syncopated rhythm of jazz and blues. Because Dorsey was able to read music, unlike many of his
blues compatriots, he came to understand that music was a conduit of feeling, a choice to be made
solely by the performer and that, one had to surrender oneself to the inspiration, be it a higher power,
their experience, or whatever. Dorsey brought these observations and the tenor of the blues together to
this new music; that of defiance in the face of despair. These were songs of hope, perseverance, and
affirmation. Take My Hand was a favorite of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King and was performed
at his funeral at the request of President Lyndon Johnson. Everyone from Aretha Franklin to Beyonce
have added it to their

The Benefits Of Real Property In Mexico
Canadians and North Americans are buying more property in Mexico than ever before. This is partly
because the Mexican government has been making it much easier. In 1973 the Mexican government
changed their foreign investment law to allow non Mexican nationals to buy real estate anywhere in
Mexico except the Restricted Zone (which is located within 31 miles from the coastline and 62 miles
from its borders). In 1993 the law was amended to allow foreigners to buy real property in the
Restricted Zone by using a Fideicomiso which is a trust agreement established with a Mexican bank.
The bank acts on behalf of the foreign buyer holding the title to the real property, becoming the
trustee. The bank then, as trustee, has a fiduciary responsibility ... Show more content on

Some estimates say as low as 7% on a small loan amount or as high as 18% with larger loans from
private lenders. Credit scores can also have an impact like they do here in the United States. Paying all
cash upfront is simple, easy, and the norm in the past but financing is becoming more available.
Seller financing is very popular and works basically the same as it does here in the United States. But
there is also another type of seller financing called: Reserve of Domain. It is typically used if the
buyer has all the money to purchase the property, but it is tied up in assets and isn t liquefiable at the
time of sale. One example would be if the foreign buyer has the money in an IRA and is only
permitted to withdraw a small portion without being penalized. The Reserve of Domain is easier and
cheaper to set up than an ordinary mortgage. The buyer pays the seller most of the sales price for the
property. Then the buyer and the seller enter an agreement regarding the payment of the remainder of
the sales price. The deed is then put in Reserve by a Notario Publico. When the buyer pays the seller
the balance along with the interest that was agreed upon, the seller contacts the Notario Publico and
signs off that he s been paid. The Notario Publico then goes to the Public Registry of Property and lifts
the Reserve from the deed.
Large international banks working in Mexico can offer mortgage loans and some can even help you
with your Fideicomiso trust permit from the Ministry

32 Fouettes-Mayan Injury
The issue here is injured dancers and dancers dancing over or recovering from injuries. This does not
follow any kind of predictable timeline in terms of recovery. From what we know of Boylston s injury
it occurred during the Giselle and involved her ankle. Executing 32 fouettés requires turning on one
ankle for a few minutes, really grinding that leg into the floor almost. So perhaps to prevent reinjuring
her ankle, Boylston dumbed down the choreography. As we know, not all great Odette/Odiles have
performed the 32 fouettés Maya Plisetskaya is a leading example. There was a time when only a few
technically gifted ballerinas could do that stunt now every girl in the corps de ballet seems to be able
to do it. There is a lot

What Is Poe s Name Of The Animals In The Black Cat
In the literature The Black Cat by Edgar Allan Poe. The narrator, mentions that in the next few days he
would die. He describes himself as a caring and loving man, who when was young was despised by
others for his fear of animals. He married a woman who had the same fear of animals, though she
invited many animals to live their home. There were birds, gold fish, a very well dog, rabbits, a tiny
monkey and a cat. The name of the cat is Pluto this was the cat s name was my favorite pet and
playmate. I alone fed him, and he attended me wherever I went to the house. It was even with
difficulty that I could prevent him from following me through the streets (Poe). The man and his cat
built a close relationship. As time went on, the man began feeling unkindness.

teeth. The fury of a demon instantly possessed me. I knew myself no longer (Poe). Later, he grew to

and drops Pluto from a tree, killing Pluto.
The wife and the man walk to the cellar to complete errands. The cat followed me down the steep
stairs, and, nearly throwing me headlong, exasperated me to madness. Uplifting an ax, and forgetting,
in my wrath, the childish dread which had hitherto stayed my hand, I aimed a blow at the animal,
which, of course, would have proved instantly fatal had it descended as I wished. But this blow was

Themes Of Fiddler On The Roof
The classic tale of a Jewish family s struggle in a Russian society that is growing more and more
hostile, Fiddler on the Roof is rich in historical and ethnic detail, with a central theme that crosses the
barriers of race and class to become a classic musical that draws in audiences worldwide. Fiddler on
the Roof is a favorite among many musical theatre lovers because of its humor, inspiring plot, and
underlying theme of faith and tradition.
Fiddler on the Roof is set in a Jewish community in pre revolutionary Russia, where every decision
made by the residents of Anatevka, Ukraine, is centered in community and religious tradition. For
poor dairy farmer Tevye and his wife Golde, these traditions include getting the town matchmaker,
Yente, to find their five daughters suitable and wealthy husbands. Tzeitel, who is not yet twenty, doesn
t like that Yente only sets her up with old men, and is secretly in love with a poor tailor named Motel.
Motel doesn t believe Tevye would approve of a union between him and Tzeitel due to the economic
status of both families, and because their union had not been arranged by the matchmaker. Another
daughter, Hodel, understands the importance of these traditions better than her older sister Tzeitel.
Hodel has grown attached to the idea of marrying the rabbi s son, because of what he is, rather than
who he is. Younger sister Chava hopes for someone to love in the future, but for now is content to
focus on her love of reading. The approach of

Meaning Of Carpe Diem In Time Flies By David Ives
Time Flies by David Ives exemplifies the meaning of carpe diem. May and Horace appear to be a
young couple enjoying life, with many characteristics of a human couple. The play moves at a slow
pace at the beginning, but as they realize that their lives only last for twenty four hours, the characters
begin to stress, the pace of the play speeds up, and the motif that life is fleeting becomes prominent.
After Horace and May s date night, they come back to May s and decide to watch some television.
The show ends up being about mayflies and how the only activities they participate in are feeding
meeting mating breeding dying. Horace comments how they are watching filth but neither of them
process that it is all they will be doing. Even when the mayflies lives are spelt out to them, they
choose to ignore it and continue with their drinks and snacks. Horace and May s behavior is indicative
of people in the real world. People waste their precious time on earth fooling around and not trying to
maximize their opportunities that they have. Only later when they finally realize that they do not have
much longer to live do they actually take control of their lives much like Horace and May. ... Show

They freak out and realize that they are going to die. After they collect themselves, the mayflies try to
take advantage of the time they still have. However, May becomes especially upset when she
remembers the plans that she once had. David Attenborough reappears and encourages them to fly to
Paris anyway. Despite worries from Horace, May cries carpe diem and they fly off. The play embraces
the lack of time that not only mayflies experience, but also relationships and humans. No one has that
much time and it must be taken advantage of at every moment

What Is The Difference Between Arx And Engel s Theory Of...
arx and Engels believed that the system at work of labor in society created a general alienation of
people from consciousness of their species being ; consciousness of being human. Within this theory
of human alienation, Marx and Engels provide three components from which people are generally
estranged from: the objects of labor, from nature, and from the labor itself. Plato, in contrast, believed
that human alienation lived on the basis of specialization, efficiency, and lack of education. That
people, in Socrates Kallipolis, were generally alienated from the Form of the Truth and Ideas. He
derails from Marx and Engels in the sense that Plato never believed in an inevitable Communist
Revolution, but in a possible political revolution, needed in order to maintain moderation and avoid
the clash of ideas in society. Where Marx and Engels believe in communism for the good of economy,
Socrates believed in communism for the good of the government and his Republic.
Marx and Engels believed that the economy during the Industrial Revolution created a mechanical
system in which people came to be alienated from the reality of being a human being. They argue that
because society is putting in all of its effort to compete with each other so that production becomes a
competition, people lose their sense of living, the sense of themselve, their species being. In the
Communist Manifesto, they argue, The bourgeoisie cannot exist without constantly revolutionising the
instruments of

  • 2. Research On The Methods Of Surveying Surveys and Happiness: A study on the different techniques used to persuade individuals to participate in survey taking By: Zachary Bernal University of Kansas Abstract Many studies have been done regarding researchers abilities to obtain information from individuals from various methods of surveying. Drawing on the social psychological factors of persuasion and compliance, studies have shown that if individuals receive something from the researcher (e.g. money, conversation, advice) they are much more likely to agree to participate in the survey due to the norms of reciprocity (Groves et al., 1992). Another key factor in determining people s compliance with a request draws on the ideas that individuals in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Over the years I started to wonder what the most effective way was to address new customers. Sometimes I would approach them and before I say a word they already dismiss me with an, I m good, thanks. Making it quite clear they don t want my help or anything I m selling. So I started to ask myself what leads to the most customer involvement and willingness to be sold to? I finally began to notice that if the customer was simply asked how their day was going, or first primed with casual conversation before asking if they needed any help on the sales floor, they were much more likely to request my help or ask a question. These interactions between customers lead to broader implications of persuasion and compliance. Compliance is defined as, Responding favorably to an explicit request by another person. (Gilovich, et al., 2013). Persuasion is defined as, The action of influencing someone or of being influenced to do or believe something. (Gillath, 2014). These mechanisms of persuasion and compliance could carry larger implications outside of the retail setting. It seems as though people are much more likely to be compliant to a request and succumb to persuasion if they are in a better mood. Therefore, if salespeople, telemarketers, charities, and other institutions were to add a more personal experience to their target they will increase the likelihood of that individual to be persuaded or ... • 3. Dietary Intake Of Sodium Essay 1) The correct amount of sodium is important in the body because it helps control blood pressure and regulates the function of muscles and nerves (http://healthyeating.sfgate.com/actions sodium human body 8362.html). Sodium attracts and holds water to help maintain the blood pressure, but if you consume to much sodium the body will hold on too much water which can increase your blood pressure (http://healthyeating.sfgate.com/actions sodium human body 8362.html). Sodium comes from a variety of food. A mistake that people make is believing that sodium is only found in table salt. Most of the dietary sodium that is added during cooking and at the table only makes up about 11% of the body s intake of sodium. Meaning that the added table salt is ... A few tips the help Hugh s lose weight would be to exercise more and eat smaller portion of food, but also remembering to no skip meals (http://www.webmd.com/diet/features/lose weight fast how to do it safely#1). Skipping meals such as breakfast can have a domino effect. Some people believe that if you skip a meal you are more likely to eat more and crave more for your next meal (http://www.humankinetics.com/excerpts/excerpts/skipping meals can have negative consequences). This could lead to an extra calorie intake. Also when Hugh skips a meal he is depriving his body of essential nutrients that supply him with energy. This can lead to him feeling lethargic, and also giving him less motivation to exercise (http://www.thedailymeal.com/cook/6 reasons you shouldn t skip meals). Hugh also needs to incorporate healthy meals instead of fast food. I would recommend that Hugh cooks extra food that consists of healthy foods such as vegetables, grilled lean fat meats, and whole grains the night before work and then make him a plate for work. This would help prevent Hugh from eating fast food on his lunch break, and still not be inconvenient. One of the other big factors for Hugh to lose weight would be exercise. As of now the only exercise that Hugh is getting is short walks with his dog and day to day activities. This means Hugh is living a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Immorality In We The Use of Mathematical Concepts to Symbolize Irrationality in We Yevgeny Zamyatin s We is a dystopian epistolary novel about an engineer, D 503, and his experiences up until the time the Integral is finished being built. The Integral is a spacecraft that will be used to travel to other planets and spread the philosophy of OneState, which is the perfect society that D 503 lives in that runs solely on logic and mathematics. Because D 503 lives in this logical world, he depends on math for a rational explanation for everything; and ever since D 503 has been introduced to the square root of negative one and the concept of infinity, he fears that these irrational concepts will disrupt the perfect mathematical world that he lives in. In short, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, an important use of the concept is used after the revolution is announced. In record 30, D 503 says that OneState s revolution was the last revolution and there cannot be another. I 330 argues by asking what the final number is. When D 503 says that there is an infinite number of numbers, I 330 replies by saying that, There is no final one. The number of revolutions is infinite (Zamyatin 168). D 503 likes to think that their revolution was the last one. However, since there is an infinite number of numbers, there is also an infinite number of ways to live and an infinite number of revolutions. There is no one to say that any revolution is the last. This concept of infinite revolutions frustrates D 503 because he believes there has to be a limit, but in reality there will always be a constant change and things will never stop. The best thing that people can do to prevent this change is to limit the number of revolutions or rebellions. The way that OneState does that is to try and limit the people s individuality and imagination. By limiting the individuality and imagination of the people, OneState believes that there will not be any revolutions. However, there will always be a couple of people that will slip through the cracks, like I 330. That is why there is going to be a revolution that will ruin OneState. And after that, there will be another revolution that will ruin the next and this will go on forever, just like ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Oscar Wilde s fairy tales have been embedded in the educational system for more than one century and a lot of children enjoyed the rich imagery that is provided in his fairy tales. Even though some critics argue that his tales were not meant for the younger audience, Wilde himself said that the tales were written for both children, and a certain class of adults as well (Duffy, 2001). However, his works can lead a reader to the understanding of his life and his views about particular topics including morality, aesthetics and sexuality. The two films both contain a vast amount of voyeurism presented in different ways. In both films women are treated rude, disrespectfully and are victims of violence. Both films also share the theme of Isolationism which contributes to the plot, tone and development of characters. The films are so alike in comparison and little in contrast that it would lead you to believe that Disturbia is a modern remake of Rear window. First off let s discuss the voyeurism presented in both of the films. In the film Rear window Jeff is shown on numerous occasions was shown watching a woman from his window dancing and, changing in her underwear while smiling at the sight. This form of voyeurism is shown in Disturbia when kale is also shown watching his neighbor Ashley from his window on many occasions while she is swimming and changing clothes. Is this actually possible; would the U.S. government lie to our nation, let alone the whole world? The answer, no, should jump out. Hoax believers (HBs) thought they researched this thoroughly and gained enough evidence to prove that the moon landing was a hoax, but they don t know jack! Their whole case can be compared to a brick house with one difference. It seems like the bricks have all the corners, sides, and shape of a house. The evidence seems to be very strong, but the bricks are only one dimensional. All the supposed evidence crumbles after a little research. Since there is no air on the moon, only the dust that is physically touched is blown (Bad). This means that footprints not directly affected by the rockets can still be. What else can possibly be brought up dealing with the absence of atmosphere on the moon? The flag ripples in the photographs taken by the astronauts; therefore, the force of wind causes this. This assumption is entirely false. In most of the photos, the astronauts are placing the pole of the flag into the moon which of course is causing movement of the flag. Now, the biggest kicker is the photograph showing the astronaut standing on the side of the flag. The design of the flag can explain this. To compensate for the lack of an atmosphere on the lunar surface, the flag assembly included a horizontal crossbar to give the illusion of a flag flying in the breeze (NASA). Now it is time for some more nonsense. How did the astronauts survive the trip to the moon if they needed to pass through Van Alen s Ring? For everyone that does not know, Van Alen s Ring is a ring of radiation that completely surrounds Earth 500 miles above it s surface. Before CELTA, teaching was just a mundane practice for me. I was very much an average teacher and barely try to link with any student. Throughout this whole learning process, I have enjoyed learning through edutainment, a blend of education and entertainment that enhance learning tremendously. The guidance and assistance given by my mentors are still working exquisitely; for certain it was a magnum opus. CELTA reformed my teaching practice; I am on the crest of a wave since then. Besides, every teacher can narrate numerous highs and lows in their teaching career. Personally, I experienced many great moments while teaching. Over my last 8 years of teaching and working in education, one event stands above the rest as my absolute best teaching experience. Through the years, I learned so much about teaching and dealing with students. Recently I graduated with TESL Ontario and TESL Canada from Canadian College of Educators, Canada. Today TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) plays an imperative role in Canada. Cohn is a notorious American writer but he still shows his insecurity. One of the reasons for his insecurity is that Cohn is one of the few men in the story who is revealed to not be a veteran of the war. Cohn also experienced a lot of racial discrimination as a Jew when he went to Princeton (Hemingway, 12). To compensate for his self consciousness, he became the middleweight boxing champion of Princeton (Hemingway, 11). Despite his athletic achievements, Cohn is still portrayed as feminine. His first wife left him before he could leave her and the next woman he had a relationship with was very forceful and she treated Cohn as a careless possession (Hemingway, 13). • 16. Persuasive Essay On Community College Every semester there is a fight to find a parking space on campus. I began Northshore Technical Community College in the fall of 2014 at the Hammond area campus. With enrollment increasing rapidly, Northshore relocated the business department to the North campus of Southeastern Louisiana University campus in the spring of 2016. There is limited parking for freshmen. The parking area, we can use is assigned to the overflow of the upper classmen. Even though driving a car to campus is convenient, riding a bicycle to school is a more practical option for some commuter college students since of the amount of parking spaces available to students are limited. Parking is not only an issue for Southeastern Louisiana University, consequently is also a problem for the majority of other colleges. According to, a journalist from California with the East Bay Times, an article titled Community college parking jams drive students to distraction, stated, People are circling around, and you have some people going the wrong way, which is really annoying, said Taylor Atkinson, a student at San Jose City College, which has 1,300 spaces for 9,450 students. • 17. The Search For Prosperity In Mac s In Dubious Battle In today s world, it seems everyone is fueled to work only towards the dream of wealth. Without the promise of payment, people will turn their back on their neighbor without a second thought and continue on the search for prosperity. In the novel In Dubious Battle, we meet Mac, a hard working party member doing everything in his power to help struggling laborers make the wage they were promised before setting out for the California apple orchards. Almost immediately after the strike begins, Mac comes to the realization that there likely is no chance of the workers winning the strike, yet he continues to fight for his beliefs. Some may interpret this as selfish for risking the lives of these workers, however this is undoubtedly false as Mac risks his own life alongside the other strikers. Mac also has no financial reward for helping with the strike and is spending his time educating the workers a valuable lesson on how to strike that will help them in the larger strike that Mac sees ominously approaching. From the moment Mac arrives on the apple orchard, we see that he is not afraid to risk his own life for the sake of the party. In a conversation with Jim, Mac reveals how the party is larger than any single member, no matter how important that member may be. Mac goes on to express that he is willing to give up his own life in the wake of a larger, nation wide strike he foresees coming very soon. Mac expresses this idea to Jim, saying if I go out now it won t matter. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Trotsky and Stalin Essay Trotsky and Stalin I think that without Trotsky s contribution to the revolution it wouldn t of been a success I think this because Trotsky was put in charge of organising the revolution by Lenin and this might show that Lenin believed that Trotsky could do great things and this also means Lenin must of trust Trotsky as he picked him very carefully. I also think as this was a vital job Lenin must of thought that Trotsky was the best man for the job. Trotsky also had organised the Bolsheviks in Petrograd. He did this because it was the capital city and it was very important to take control of the strongest part first this showed Lenin that Trotsky was very clever. Before the revolution Trotsky ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Trotsky played a vital part in the revolution and his sneaky plans worked and he had everything planned secretly from everyone. B I think the reason that Stalin and not Trotsky emerged as Lenin s successor because Stalin was a strong Bolshevik believer from the beginning unlike Trotsky who was a bit of a glory supporter and only came onto the Bolsheviks side when he knew that there was going to be a revolution happening in 1917 that he could be a part of. I think that if Stalin didn t know that a revolution could take place then he would of stayed a Menshevik supporter. Stalin also thought that if they started the revolution in one country (Russia) then they could get power in that country and then the army would have to join the Bolsheviks making it bigger to take over one country one by one. Whereas Trotsky believed that they should take over a few countries at once this was a very silly idea as they would not be able to pull it off as they were not quite big enough to do this and Lenin saw this. Stalin was a very hard worker from the beginning to the finish and he was a very healthy man around the time that Lenin died whereas Trotsky was a sick man and he also still had that glory supporter nametag. Advantages Of Traditional Poe Running head: 802.3af (Traditional PoE) 802.3af (Traditional PoE) In APA style Ariane Quenum Loyola University of Chicago Abstract Power over Ethernet or PoE is a technology that dispense electrical power and data transmission to devices, such as IP cameras or phones, access points wireless or bluetooth. PoE devices that are placed in remote locations stop not only the need for power outlets, but also cut down the installation costs and enable the network devices to be adaptable in that region. Besides being used in IP telephones, cameras or wireless transmission, PoE can assure a better safety of a network while it operates as an inessential power supply. PoE makes the network planning flexible and independent of switch cabinets and sockets. For a better security, it is necessary to shut down all the PDs that are not in use or not necessary in the office or where are being used. Also with the popularity of the PoE. it is very easy to use PoE with a variety of other devices. On one hand, we have Power over Ethernet PSE (Power Supplying Equipment) which supplies PoE PD devices with electricity via the data cable and is also a source of voltage. It may use either End Span or Mid Span. The end span method basically means that there is a hardware device such as a PoE capable switch at the beginning of the twisted pair cable. A PoE capable switch simply defines a switch that has the capability of transmitting DC voltage over the twisted pair cable along with data. Figure 1: Power supplied from LAN equipment with end span PSE The other method, known as Mid span, provides power on the twisted pair cable at some point after the switch/router but before the device you are powering. An example of a Mid span device would be something like a Single Port PoE injector (Planet3 Wireless, 2005). A Single Port PoE injector has a port for the incoming Ethernet cable, a cord for the ... Lasse Hallstrom and Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck are two very similar pieces of storytelling about caring for the misfortunate. In Of Mice and Men George cares for his mentally challenged friend Lennie, and in, What s Eating Gilbert Grape, Gilbert takes care of his mentally disabled brother Arnie. Both George and Gilbert care more for the well being and defence of their loved one, than they do for their own well being in most cases. Comparably Gilbert s decision to burn down his house is his way of proclaiming his starting over, and symbolically saying that nothing good ever came of that house and that nothing ever would. Gilbert is talking to Becky and is saying how much he hates living in his house and that he hates how lazy and fat his mom is. This is more obvious for Gilbert because throughout the whole movie he is completely selfless and only cares about taking care of his family. Both of their decisions were very important to show that they were finally taking control of their lives, and that they decided to finally do something for themselves. Unfortunately in order to do this both characters looked to destructive and violent ways of freeing themselves. • 22. The Limitations of GDP as a Measure of Well Being The Limitations of GDP as a Measure of Well Being A primary aim of governments economic policy includes economic development and management. The presence of a growing economy is perceived as a positive characteristic; with increasing gross domestic product (GDP) being interpreted as positive sign of social well being (van den Bergh, 2008). Countries with a high GDP have higher taxes paid to government, who may use those taxes to provide public services such as education and health, which in turn supports the well being of the citizens. Despite this the measure is often criticized as an indicator of well being. To appreciate the value of GDP as a measure it is necessary to look at what it is and how it may be used as well as recognize the limitation of using GDP. GDP is a measure of economic activity in an economy. The measure can be calculated in three ways, measuring the output by calculating the value of all the goods and services produced within a country, as expenditure, measuring the value of all goods and services purchased with in the economy, which will include the value of exports, but required reduction of imports, lastly the income measure, where GDP is measured through the level of income generated, mainly through profits and wages (BBC News, 2011). It is claimed that the loss of power for the Conservatives was largely due to a decline in fortunes as the party split due to issues over tariff reforms. On the other hand it is assumed that the loss was due to the complacency and the neglect of Workingmen s Interests. Arthur James Balfour had become the Conservative leader in the House of Commons and served (1891 92, 1895 1903) as the first Lord of the treasury. This allowed room for the Liberals to capitalise on this advantage and to begin snatching the working class vote from the Conservatives and people like Lloyd George enabled them to do so. Digitization provides tools to detect private digital copying of a protected work and to limit it. Given the power conferred by the technology, fair use exceptions established by the law may become inapplicable and substantially affect access to information, particularly in developing countries. This paper will focus primarily on elements that they have in common. For the first two forms, there are thirteen players on the field for each team. A game is eighty minutes long and is divided into two halves of continuous action. The objective of rugby is to carry an oblong ball down the field and across the opponent s goal line. This is the main scoring play, known as a try. A try is worth five points. In order to count for a try, the player must take the ball across the goal line and set it down on the ground. The point at which the ball is set down is used as the basis for the try at goal. This is a kicking play, and it follows a try. The team that scored the try attempts to kick the ball through the upright goal in the middle of the field. If successful, the try at goal is worth two points. The other way that rugby teams can earn points is through field goals. This is earned any time a player kicks the ball through the uprights of the opponent. This can happen from open play or on a penalty, and is worth one point. Rugby is played on a large field and the players wear little equipment. There is no mandatory protective equipment, despite the high level of contact in the game. Some players do opt to wear head gear or mouthguards, and also shin guards to protect against cleats. • 29. Celiac Disease And Celiacs Disease Celiacs disease (gluten sensitive enteropathy) is a condition where in some people, gluten cannot be digested and causes an immune response. Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, oats, and rye. In some people who take in and ingest gluten, an enzyme named transglutaminase transforms the gluten into a chemical that triggers an immune reaction, causing irritation and inflammation of the lining of the small intestine (Wedro, 2016). The microvilli that make up the inside surface of the intestine are destroyed, causing nutirents to pass without being, like our body needs from our diet. This can cause damage to other organs in the body due to malabsorption. (Wedro, 2016) Organs that depends the most on nutrients to function properly consist of the liver, bones and the brain. This is crucial especially in children because malnutrition can lead to abnormal growth and development. (Wedro, 2016) Celiacs disease can also be known by Coeliac Disease. Roughly 8,000 years after its first appearence, celiacs disease was identified and named. A Greek physician named Aretaeus of Cappadocia who lived in the first century AD, wrote about The Coeliac Affection. Also, he called it koiliakos after the Greek word koelia meaning abdomen. Some examples could be if you punched someone for intentionally kicking you, or if someone deliberately hurt the feelings of someone you love and you retaliated in kind. You probably thought the punishment you received for your actions was too harsh or lenient. Many factors went into the decision of what discipline you received for this act and some were fair while others probably were not. This is true for the actions of many people in Aeschylus s Oresteia. In each of the three plays, someone is seeking vengeance for a wrong done unto them, someone they know/love, or both. For this paper, I will be focusing on the vengeance enacted by Clytemnestra, Orestes, and the Fates. The vengeance that each person enacted was deemed just or unjust depending on many factors including the people who were doing the judging. Vengeance in Aeschylus s Oresteia is viewed through the social lens of the society that it was enacted in. This lens is made up of the popular values, beliefs, and social conventions of the period as well as the judge s personal views and/or experiences. These factors (such as gender and relation to the victim, as well as the presence or absence of transgressions on the characters part) lead to different opinions about the guilt of the accused individual and the individual themselves. • 34. The Curse Of Humanity Is The Inescapable Presence Of... I carry a red sweater, a fair amount of cough drop and gum wrappers, pencil shavings, and 3 calculators, 2 of which I rarely use. If someone were to weigh the contents of my backpack, there would be significant error in the approximation. The curse of humanity is the inescapable presence of sentimentality and emotion, things which often latch onto physical objects. So in measuring the things I carry, one would have to take into account the burdens which cannot be seen by the limited scope of the human eye. The greatest weights I bear are attached to the smallest of articles; a sunscreen bottle, an albuterol inhaler, and two pills of ibuprofen. I carry the knowledge of my inherent flaws and the insecurities that come from having these inadequacies through all of my darkest moments, and sometimes even my brightest. To be reminded of the breadth of human flaw is humbling to an extent. When the things which I carry, like my albuterol and sunscreen bottle, are constant reminders of my own weaknesses, then this humbling idea becomes a destructive one. The fact that the albuterol inhaler treats an incurable disease is not what makes my burden so heavy. The albuterol inhaler calls to my mind the idea that I am unable to change the intrinsic parts about my person. While this may seem to be an obvious burden, one which we must all face, it is nonetheless a burden that can at times inhibit self confidence. The inhaler reminds me that there are things which asthma prevents ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Abstract The research assessed in this article discusses the Stroop effect. The Stroop effect occurs when our selective attention fails and we are unable to attend to some information and ignore the rest. This study tests the Stroop effect by presenting the participant with a congruent or incongruent word and the participant is asked to type the color of the word or the actual word in a series of trials. In this research, it has been found that participants had faster reaction times for congruent items and slower reaction times for incongruent items. Method Participants Twenty one undergraduate, male and female students were recruited from an experimental lab class at the City University of New York Brooklyn College. Materials and Design In this within subjects design, we used a 2 (Congruency: Congruent vs. Incongruent) x 2 (Task Type: Naming color vs. Naming word) factorial; the dependent variable measured was reaction time. The stimuli were presented on a seventeen inch computer monitor and participants were given a standard keyboard for their responses. The software used for this experiment is METACARD. The stimuli used were four words: red, green, blue, yellow; and four colors: red, green, blue, yellow. For the independent variable of congruency, there were four possible congruent items and twelve possible incongruent items. For the independent variable of task, there was one block of forty eight trials asking the participant to type the word and one block of forty eight trials asking the participant to type the color. The order of each block was randomly determined by the computer for each participant. Half of the participants did the word naming then color naming; the other half did color naming then word naming. Each trial begins with the presentation of a fixation cross in the center of the screen, visible for 500 milliseconds. • 37. William the Holy Conqueror Even though William the Conqueror descended from a line of Vikings who had lived in France for over 200 years, William had more of an impact on the English language than the majority of influential English born people of the time. The French speaking Normans brought a whole new vocabulary to England, whose language was closely related to German. (Barlow 8). He even introduced the Norman legacy of building castles, including the Tower of London. Although he is most well known for the Norman invasion of 1066 that overthrew the Anglo Saxon reign which had lasted for over six centuries, William was a very religious man. He was moral and righteous by the standards of the time, and devoted much of his time to the Norman church. William was born in 1028 and was the only son of Duke Robert I of Normandy who later died on a voyage to Jerusalem. After his father s death in 1035, he was knighted at the age of fifteen and the Norman magnates accepted William as duke even though he was an illegitimate child; he was actually known as William the Bastard. This caused William serious problems later in life and he had to overcome several massive obstacles one of which was surviving numerous rebellions; which his mother somehow got him through. William relied heavily on King Henry I of France for protection. He faced substantial difficulty maintaining control over Normandy but by his early twenties he emerged a powerful leader. William then gathered an army to protect his estate. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Multiple Biological Theory It is widely known that there are multiple biological theories and psychological theories of addiction. In this paper, I will select the genetic inheritance theory of biological theories of addiction and the addictive personality theory of psychological theories of addiction to illustrate how both theories are different and similar. In addition, I will discuss if I would use these theories in my future practice. First of all, the genetic inheritance theory is one of biological theories of addiction, and its perspective is that biological (genetic) inheritance influences the addiction behavior much stronger than environment and life experiences. The twin and adoption studies suggest the significance of genetic inheritance influences in male, and heritability of male twins studies is approximated from 49% to 64% (McGue, 1999). • 39. Thomas Dorsey Research Paper Good versus Evil, Heaven versus Hell, Sacred versus Secular; these were the internal and external conflicts faced by the blues artists of the 1920s and 30s. There was no in between, but Thomas Dorsey didn t see much of a difference, they both reflected the African American experience. Many of these artists, like Charley Patton and Blind Lemon Jefferson, negotiated this chasm by recording a few sacred tunes though always under a pseudonym. Thomas A. Dorsey, also attempted this delicate balance of recording and performing blues while writing spirituals and church music. His sorrow inspired him to compose the now Gospel standard Take My Hand, Precious Lord. This composition fused the religious hymn with the rhythmical and emotive blues music into what became Gospel Music, which for a longtime were referred to as Dorseys. Gospel is not simply the cross pollination of the spiritual hymn and the syncopated rhythm of jazz and blues. Because Dorsey was able to read music, unlike many of his blues compatriots, he came to understand that music was a conduit of feeling, a choice to be made solely by the performer and that, one had to surrender oneself to the inspiration, be it a higher power, their experience, or whatever. Dorsey brought these observations and the tenor of the blues together to this new music; that of defiance in the face of despair. These were songs of hope, perseverance, and affirmation. Take My Hand was a favorite of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King and was performed at his funeral at the request of President Lyndon Johnson. • 40. The Benefits Of Real Property In Mexico Canadians and North Americans are buying more property in Mexico than ever before. This is partly because the Mexican government has been making it much easier. In 1973 the Mexican government changed their foreign investment law to allow non Mexican nationals to buy real estate anywhere in Mexico except the Restricted Zone (which is located within 31 miles from the coastline and 62 miles from its borders). In 1993 the law was amended to allow foreigners to buy real property in the Restricted Zone by using a Fideicomiso which is a trust agreement established with a Mexican bank. The bank acts on behalf of the foreign buyer holding the title to the real property, becoming the trustee. The bank then, as trustee, has a fiduciary responsibility ... Credit scores can also have an impact like they do here in the United States. Paying all cash upfront is simple, easy, and the norm in the past but financing is becoming more available. Seller financing is very popular and works basically the same as it does here in the United States. But there is also another type of seller financing called: Reserve of Domain. It is typically used if the buyer has all the money to purchase the property, but it is tied up in assets and isn t liquefiable at the time of sale. One example would be if the foreign buyer has the money in an IRA and is only permitted to withdraw a small portion without being penalized. The Reserve of Domain is easier and cheaper to set up than an ordinary mortgage. The buyer pays the seller most of the sales price for the property. Then the buyer and the seller enter an agreement regarding the payment of the remainder of the sales price. The deed is then put in Reserve by a Notario Publico. When the buyer pays the seller the balance along with the interest that was agreed upon, the seller contacts the Notario Publico and signs off that he s been paid. The Notario Publico then goes to the Public Registry of Property and lifts the Reserve from the deed. From what we know of Boylston s injury it occurred during the Giselle and involved her ankle. Executing 32 fouettés requires turning on one ankle for a few minutes, really grinding that leg into the floor almost. So perhaps to prevent reinjuring her ankle, Boylston dumbed down the choreography. As we know, not all great Odette/Odiles have performed the 32 fouettés Maya Plisetskaya is a leading example. Themes Of Fiddler On The Roof The classic tale of a Jewish family s struggle in a Russian society that is growing more and more hostile, Fiddler on the Roof is rich in historical and ethnic detail, with a central theme that crosses the barriers of race and class to become a classic musical that draws in audiences worldwide. Fiddler on the Roof is a favorite among many musical theatre lovers because of its humor, inspiring plot, and underlying theme of faith and tradition. Fiddler on the Roof is set in a Jewish community in pre revolutionary Russia, where every decision made by the residents of Anatevka, Ukraine, is centered in community and religious tradition. For poor dairy farmer Tevye and his wife Golde, these traditions include getting the town matchmaker, Yente, to find their five daughters suitable and wealthy husbands. Tzeitel, who is not yet twenty, doesn t like that Yente only sets her up with old men, and is secretly in love with a poor tailor named Motel. Motel doesn t believe Tevye would approve of a union between him and Tzeitel due to the economic status of both families, and because their union had not been arranged by the matchmaker. Another daughter, Hodel, understands the importance of these traditions better than her older sister Tzeitel. • 44. Meaning Of Carpe Diem In Time Flies By David Ives Time Flies by David Ives exemplifies the meaning of carpe diem. May and Horace appear to be a young couple enjoying life, with many characteristics of a human couple. The play moves at a slow pace at the beginning, but as they realize that their lives only last for twenty four hours, the characters begin to stress, the pace of the play speeds up, and the motif that life is fleeting becomes prominent. After Horace and May s date night, they come back to May s and decide to watch some television. The show ends up being about mayflies and how the only activities they participate in are feeding meeting mating breeding dying. Horace comments how they are watching filth but neither of them process that it is all they will be doing. Even when the mayflies lives are spelt out to them, they choose to ignore it and continue with their drinks and snacks. Horace and May s behavior is indicative of people in the real world. • 45. What Is The Difference Between Arx And Engel s Theory Of... arx and Engels believed that the system at work of labor in society created a general alienation of people from consciousness of their species being ; consciousness of being human. Within this theory of human alienation, Marx and Engels provide three components from which people are generally estranged from: the objects of labor, from nature, and from the labor itself. Plato, in contrast, believed that human alienation lived on the basis of specialization, efficiency, and lack of education. That people, in Socrates Kallipolis, were generally alienated from the Form of the Truth and Ideas. He derails from Marx and Engels in the sense that Plato never believed in an inevitable Communist Revolution, but in a possible political revolution, needed in order to maintain moderation and avoid the clash of ideas in society. Where Marx and Engels believe in communism for the good of economy, Socrates believed in communism for the good of the government and his Republic. Marx and Engels believed that the economy during the Industrial Revolution created a mechanical system in which people came to be alienated from the reality of being a human being. They argue that because society is putting in all of its effort to compete with each other so that production becomes a competition, people lose their sense of living, the sense of themselve, their species being.
