Unfortunately, this magical and once thought as immortal space is in terrible danger of closing down, ending hundreds of years of business and tradition in the meantime. As reported by various sources such as Architectural Digest and DesignBoom, the 18th-century place has been heavily plagued by the ongoing virus, financial crisis, floods and the fact that Venice is, right now, a ghost town.

Even though the caffè is itself a luxury brand with other stores around the world, it is a pitty to understand that such a fantastic icon of architecture and history is in danger of disappearing forever and leaving Venice a little more empty. With a dark past year, one can only hope for a better 2021 and for places like this one to be able to sustain themselves.
