Hugh Laurie, born James Hugh Calum Laurie CBE on 11 June 1959, is a man of many talents - an accomplished actor, comedian, writer and musician. He first stepped into the limelight as part of the comedy duo Fry and Laurie alongside Stephen Fry in the 1980s and 1990s. They entertained audiences with their wit and charm in numerous projects including the BBC sketch comedy series A Bit of Fry & Laurie and Jeeves and Wooster.
From 2004 to 2012, Laurie took on a more serious role as Dr. Gregory House in Fox's medical drama series House. His performance was highly acclaimed earning him two Golden Globe Awards amongst other accolades. He was listed in the Guinness World Records as one of the most watched leading men on television at that time. His portrayal of arms dealer Richard Onslow Roper in The Night Manager (2016) won him his third Golden Globe Award while his role as Senator Tom James in Veep (2012โ2019) landed him his tenth Emmy Award nomination.
