Sasha Vujacic to play in Turkey, according to report

Nets player Sasha VujacicFree agent swingman Sasha Vujacic is reported to be close to signing in Turkey.

Turkey is the place to be this season for Nets players and ex-Nets players, alike. According to reports, free agent Sasha Vujacic, who played for the Nets last season after being traded to New Jersey by the Los Angeles Lakers, is negotiating a deal with the Turkish team Efes.

Vujacic, a 6-7 guard, averaged 11.4 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 56 games for the Nets after coming over in a three-team deal that sent Terrence Williams from New Jersey to Houston; Joe Smith from New Jersey to the Lakers and brought back the Lakers' 2011 first round pick and the Rockets' 2012 first round pick to the Nets.

Vujacic, 27, had offered no assurance of re-signing with the Nets had the NBA and its players avoided a lockout. But he joins former teammate Deron Williams, who last week agreed to a one-year, reported $5 million deal with Besiktas, of Istanbul, to play there during the NBA lockout. Vujacic's deal is not expected to have an out clause, as Williams' does, which would allow him to return to the NBA if the lockout ends.

In addition to Williams and Vujacic, Bojan Bogdanovic, whom the Nets drafted with the first pick of the second round last month, will also be playing in Turkey, with Istanbul's Fenerbahce.
