Honor Blackman gushed over hunky Sean Connery in a since unearthed interview on what would have been the late Hollywood star's 97th birthday. The iconic actress starred in 1964's Goldfinger, playing the crudely-named Bond Girl, Pussy Galore.

Blackman died of natural causes on April 5 in 2020 aged 94 and, after a glistening career, is still considered one of the greatest 007 sidekicks of all time. But it was when reflecting on her time on-set alongside Connery that she made seemingly saucy revelations.

Goldfinger premiered in London on this day in 1964, and despite later criticising the late actor, who died aged 90 the same year as Honor, she detailed feelings for the 'sexy' star, confessing he was 'the sexiest man I have ever met'.

"Of course I fancied Sean," she previously revealed. "He was the sexiest man I’ve ever met. He was Mr Universe, with a body to die for, had those twinkly eyes and was great fun. Yes, if I hadn’t been married, I would have gone there." Speaking of her hilariously-named character, Honor once said: "It's very much tongue-in-cheek, isn't it? I mean, if you're so po-faced that you have to take that seriously, well, bad luck."

Studio bosses in America had issues with the name at the time and, addressing the ordeal, Honor detailed her ways around the awkwardness at the time. "I used to quite deliberately say, 'Oh, you mean Pussy?' And they used to die," she once said.

Honor once famously declared: "Most of the Bond girls have been bimbos. I have never been a bimbo." She was 39 when the film was released – and five years older than Connery. Posters at the time showed her standing over him holding a gun, seemingly in charge.

Speaking of her infamous Bond vs Pussy fight scene with Connery, Honor previously detailed her "disgusting" injury. "When we did the fight - the 'so-called fight’ - I'd been used to doing judo in the studio on cement. So they had banks and banks of straw and they said 'Will that be alright? Can you land? Will you be safe?' I mean, it was luxury for me. I mean you don't have to wait until you get to the fighting scenes with Sean.

"He just says 'Ah, just a minute', and gets hold of you, and you've got through to the bone, because he really is so tough. There's one scene where he just has to yank me back, and [my] arm was in a disgusting condition for about a week because of the brute force."
