Caprice Bourret has stepped out in a surgical mask days after being told by a doctor on TV that they 'make no difference at all'.

As the country settles into increased self-isolation, the 48-year-old TV personality headed to a London park to practice some yoga earlier this week.

She showed off her toned abs in gym gear and a surgical mask in an attempt to protect against the virus - before practising yoga and meditation among nature.

Caprice's latest outing follows shortly after the former Dancing On Ice competitor was mocked for challenging a medic over how to stem the spread of coronavirus.

Taking to national TV at the start of the week, Caprice was on the Jeremy Vine show and argued that she knew better than all the medical experts.

After claiming to read her advice in a newspaper, Caprice said she was quoting the World Health Organisation and said the UK should be following Taiwain and Singapore.

Fellow guest Dr Sarah Jarvis hit back: “No disrespect, unless you have read every scientific paper and statistical modelling paper that’s come out, you cannot argue with me on that. You can have an opinion but it’s not a fact.”

She then said to the experts: "let me tell you the facts. In Taiwan and Singapore, what they did they early on – in week one, in February, everyone was wearing surgical masks... and then quarantine.”

The GP cut in to explain that masks: “make no difference at all.”

Voicing her concerns over the effects of the virus, the mum-of-two also recently took to social media to raise awareness of the negative effects of panic buying.

"Omg this absolutely breaks my heart ... I know these are such scary times but ..... this poor lady. also I saw a pic of an NHS nurse going grocery shopping after working 14 hours very little to nothing was left on the shelves...omg these poor people I am consciously and considerately not panic shopping for this reason."

She wrote a touching caption alongside a photograph of an elderly woman stood by empty supermarket shelves.

Although there is contention over the effectiveness of face masks like the one Caprice chose to wear, the importance of nature at this time is being mentioned more often.

The country's National Trust recently announced they would keep parks and natural spaces open for free during the pandemic in a bid to encourage social distancing whilst enjoying fresh air.
