Tess Daly shared some big news over the weekend about her husband Vernon Kay alongside a string of unseen snaps. The Strictly Come Dancing host was helping her other half celebrate as he turned the big 50.

To mark the special occasion, Tess publically shared a number of never-before-seen photos from their private collection taken throughout the years after they met in 2001 when they appeared together on TV show on the now defunct before going on to marry and welcome two children together.

The presenter delighted fans of the pair with the photos, as part of a video montage, from across their relationship alongside a sweet tribute to her husband on his big day.

Tess, 55, captioned the post in view of her 866,000 followers: "50 TODAY @vernonkay. So happy to have spent half of those birthdays with you," before adding Candi Stanton's You Got The Love as the post's soundtrack.

There were hundreds of comments in response to the post with TV presenter Kirsty Gallagher among the first, posting: "Happy birthday Vern". Strictly's head judge Shirley Ballas said: "Have a beautiful day. Happy happy birthday to a kind soul." Comedian and TV star Paddy McGuinness shared: "Welcome flower," after his turned 50 last year.

Former footballer Jamie Redknapp commented: "Happy birthday big man." Presenter Denise Van Outen replied: "Happy birthday @vernonkay." Strictly professional dancer Dianne Buswell posted: "Happy birthday," while reigning dance show champ Ellie Leach added: "Happy birthday @vernonkay."

Others, however, were in disbelief over Vernon's age. @wadeyzoe said: "Happy birthday Vernon can't believe you are 50 still looking good hav a great day enjoy." @joanneaustinxx replied: "Happy birthday @vernonkay Wow you’re aging well lad." @janecoalter added: "Happy birthday handsome man definitely don’t look 50."

It comes after Vernon received a special surprise from his fellow DJs on air, ahead of a landmark birthday. His BBC Radio colleagues opted to mark the occasion by wishing him a very happy birthday during Friday's (April 26) edition of his BBC Radio 2 show.

He was treated to a pre-recorded performance from several of Radio 2's stars singing an altered version of Stevie Wonder's 'Happy Birthday' to him. Stars such as Gaby Roslin, Jeremy Vine, Fearne Cotton and Richie Anderson all collaborated to deliver the musical tribute — featuring lyrics such as 'Cause we all know in our minds/ That you’re only 29.'
