Add one more line item to Kate Hudson's already stacked résumé: the actress, mom, and entrepreneur is officially a recording artist now with the release of her new track, "Talk About Love." Lest you think that this is just a vanity project, the song has a bona fide pedigree: Hudson worked with her fiancé, musician Danny Fujikawa, and co-wrote the song with Linda Perry — yes, that Linda Perry, of 4 Non Blondes and the woman behind Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful." Hudson teased the song on social media, but released the track in full today, encouraging everyone to "turn it up loud."

"Turn it up loud, put your car window down, let your hair fly around you, breath, know you are worthy of love and then TALK ABOUT IT 🫶😉," Hudson wrote on Instagram with a photo of the cover art. "It feels so surreal to have this song out, I can’t wait for you to hear it. Go listen wherever you get your music!"

Goldie Hawn, Hudson's mother, was quick to jump into the comments, writing, "Not only can you sing my baby, but you can also write songs like nobody's business ❤️👏."

Fans of Hudson's work will know that "Talk About Love" is far from her first foray into flexing her vocal chops. She had a guest appearance on Glee and she also sang in her films Nine and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, which included a rendition of Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" that went on to be a viral sound TikTok.

In a press release, Hudson explained she wants her music "to be open and seeking, searching to find something powerful." She added, "But I also wanted the music to be the rock, the pop, the dance music and even a bit of the alternative records I love. It was a lot put into one song, but thankfully, I had some wonderful people working with me. And so, here we are!"

Previously, Hudson told Today host Savannah Guthrie that she's been "writing music my whole life and I've never shared it" and "I just thought maybe I have to do that."

She went on to share how it's different from her other creative pursuits, like acting.

"For me, it was like, if I'm gonna do it, I'm gonna really do it. Like, I'm gonna commit to the process," she added. "There's nothing half-assed about my relationship with music, so it's the most vulnerable I think I've ever been creatively."

Hudson did tease that she'd be releasing a full album later this year, but hasn't shared exactly when it'll drop. For anyone worried she'll be swapping scripts for songs completely, rest easy. Variety reports that Hudson will be starring in Mindy Kaling's upcoming Netflix comedy series, She also teamed with her brother, Oliver Hudson, for the podcast Sibling Revelry.
