Earlier, in a conversation with Deadline, showrunner Ryan Condal addressed the return of the series after a long wait. “I'm excited to pick up where we left off," Condal explained. "Now we get to fall into the more traditional rhythms of storytelling and Game of Thrones. We've always talked about this particular tale, George [R.R. Martin] has too, of being a Shakespearean or Greek tragedy. This series is very much about a house tearing itself apart from within. Now that all those pieces have been set on the board, I'm really excited to tell the next chapter, to see what happens now that Viserys is gone and no longer keeping a lid on things,” he told the international outlet.

‘House of Dragon’ is adapted from George RR Martin’s book Fire and Blood, part of the ‘Game of Thrones’ series. It narrates the tale of The House of Targaryen, set in the fictional realm of Westeros, approximately 200 years before the 'Game of Thrones' events and around a century after the Targaryens unified the Seven Kingdoms.

Season 2 will apparently consist of eight episodes. The returning cast for ‘House of the Dragon’ Season 2 includes Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney and Sonoya Mizuno, among others. As per Variety, previously announced newcomers are Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull, Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers, Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower, and Simon Russell Beale as Ser Simon Strong.
