Often, known figures of the society face the wrath of social media. Be it cricketing stars or actors, social-media trolls have never spared anyone, so how does a celebrity tackle such an incident, which can be termed as a nightmare to many? In an exclusive interaction with India Today, Bengali film icon and two-time MP from Ghatal, Dev questions if this is peak of 'trolling' on social media.

"Is this the peak? I say no. With time, we will be trolled more on social media. Data is extremely cheap and it is very easy to negatively comment on social media," said the Bengali film star.

Sometimes it can be the unkind words of strangers that cut the deepest, especially when you’re in the spotlight. Many celebrities give us unprecedented access into their lives through social media posts and by sharing photographs, allowing us to get an insight into their lives. Access, at times, can be dangerous too. "I have seen celebrities and stars go on a holiday and show how the rooms and washrooms are on internet. When that access is present, a lot of people will comment on it," said Dev.

The actor-politician went on to state that not only celebrities, but normal people too, have become very dependent on social media. At times, the trolling takes a toll on them too.

"Social media should be a part of our lives, but can’t be everything. Maybe an hour to get information or entertainment is fine, but I feel that everything should not be shared on social media. Majority of us go on holidays and shoot reels. If it's right or not, I can't say, but if they are happy doing so, let them," said Dev.
