Emma Watson, who was offered the role of Mia in La La Land talks about her choice of not taking up the movie and if she regretted losing out on Oscars. From being a UN Women’s Goodwill Ambassador to starting her own campaign #HeForShe, promoting equality, Emma Watson has done everything right. However, the actress chose to go topless for a recent photo shoot with Vanity Fair Magazine and people went to the conclusion that Emma had lost her stand as a feminist.

Radio presenter Julia Hartley-Brewer took to twitter to share her thoughts on Emma Watson’s Vanity Fair photoshoot. ‘Emma Watson: “Feminism, feminism… gender wage gap… why oh why am I not taken seriously… feminism… oh, and here are my tits!”‘ her tweet read.

There are other Twitter Users calling out Emma for not being a feminist any longer! This sad state of affairs, which does not let a woman of age make her choices, whether it comes to wearing anything she wants, is clearly seen in this case as Emma Watson is stripped of her title as a feminist.

The argument doing the rounds is that stripping down or wearing revealing clothes does not go hand in hand with being a feminist. The sheer logic seems to have been lost as people question Emma’s leadership and her take on a topic so near and dear to millions of people in the world, simply because she chose to show off her body in the photo shoot. However some intelligent Twitter users were quick to call this stupidity out and came out in support of Emma Watson and her choice!

And then this much needed point was made!

The notion that women are supposed to be covered head to toe to make a reasonable point or that women who choose to flaunt their body are putting other women down or not fighting for equality are the logic fuelling this hatred. However, people seem to have forgotten the simple definition of feminism which only wants to give women equal rights in this patriarchal world and make sure that women can choose what they want!

Emma Watson is all set to redefine the Disney character of Belle in the 2017 release, Beauty and the beast. Emma has already made many changed in the character Belle, making her stronger than before! The movie is set to release on March 17, 2017.
