Farmville 2 Guide
Zynga has finally revealed that FarmVille 2 is officially in the works! Very few details (including when the game will be released) are available, but a short teaser trailer did reveal a few facts about the sequel:
Detailed 3D Animations
The biggest difference between Farmville and Farmville 2 seems to be the sequel’s greatly enhanced presentation and animation. The game keeps the same semi-overhead viewpoint, but animals and objects are now presented is stylized 3D objects instead of 2D sprites.
“All the Buildings, Crops and Animals are shown in 3D. You can see them from multiple directions, they can rotate, you can see them more richly - so it provides a certain pop in the game itself," Zynga told the BBC.
The short debut trailer also shows off these enchanced animations. Animals react when picked up and dropped by the player, "plopping" back down to earth in their new spot when moved. The opening cutscene also featured a farm truck rumbling down a country road, a level of detail the first Farmville couldn't pull off.
Crops
As expected, crop watering and harvesting will still be a core game mechanic. The short gameplay demo showed wa timelapse of players planting, watering, and harvesting crops. Confirmed crops include:
Crafting
The crops players harvest in Farmville 2 are used for more than just earning money. Players will be able to use these crops to craft basic items, which can then be refined and combined into more complex items.
Animals
Also like the original Farmville, players will be able to purchase and earn money from a variety of animals. Confirmed Famville 2 animals include:
Coins, Cash & Experience
Farmville 2 keeps the original's dual-currency system. Players earn coins through normal play and can purchase a premium cash currency with real-world money. As players complete actions they will earn experience points and level-up, unlocking new game content.
Notably, an energy bar has not been shown.
Decorations'
Purchasable decorations also return in Farmville 2. Hay bales, a well, a wagon wheel and more showed up in the game's first media.
Platform
Platform details haven't officially been confirmed, but it seems very very likely that Farmville 2 is destined to hit Facebook. No word on an iPhone or Android version.
