In Which Sarah Jessica Parker's Phillip Treacy Hat Takes Over The World (You MUST See This!)

Check out how SJP dressed herself for a ladies luncheon in Australia earlier today. Chanel tweed dress? Stunning. Manolo Blahnik pumps? Elegant. Phillip Treacy hat? Well, there it is!

It's hard to describe this thing without sounding like a NASA engineer, but it somehow reminds me of a satellite dish, a tornado, and that Chanel Mobile Art exhibit designed by Zaha Hadid a little while back, all wrapped into one absurdly attention-getting accessory. Need another view?

She's no stranger to wild hats--remember what she wore for Sex and the City 2's London premiere!?--and neither is Mr. Treacy (yes, he created that much-maligned fascinator worn by Princess Beatrice to the Royal Wedding), but I'm pretty sure they both just stepped things up to the next level!

If anyone can pull this look off, it's the former Carrie Bradshaw, but even then she's kinda pushing it. I love a woman who loves fashion, but you dolls know my number one rule of style: Never, ever wear anything that makes you look or feel physically uncomfortable, because that ruins the whole vibe in a heartbeat. So, is this teetering on the edge, or has it blown right over it? What do you gals think about this wild hat? Is SJP the only woman on the planet who could pull it off? Discuss!
