Rooney Mara showed up at Sundance with her hair looking kind of like a big ol' mess. But in the coolest way imaginable, as per usual.
Here's how you know Rooney does intentionally messy well: If those pieces in front hadn't been all disheveled and vaguely wavy, this could have gone totally wrong. Straight hair pieces would have made her look like she got attacked by Big Foot or some other large, scary thing. And if they were full-on curly, they'd be tendrils. And Rooney wouldn't do tendrils.
To copy this, haphazardly wrap your hair loosely around a curling iron to get a little bend but not full-on spiral curls. Then once your hair is cool, loosely pull it back, allowing your front layers to fall out as they may. Then square your shoulders and think, Back off world. I'm effortlessly awesome.
