The German won seven Formula One titles during his years in the sport

It was recently revealed that a new Michael Schumacher documentary will release in December to mark 10 years since his tragic skiing accident.

The series will go into detail on his rise from go-karting star to F1 icon.

Schumacher is considered one of the greatest drivers of all time, having won seven titles during his spell in the sport.

While Lewis Hamilton has matched the German, he's been unable to overtake him amid Mercedes' woes over the past couple of years.

ARD, the German broadcaster releasing the documentary, will release it to their library on December 14.

It has now been confirmed by German media that there will be five episodes, with each 25 minutes long.

That means F1 fans will get 125 minutes of information on their hero and how he became such a prominent figure in the sport.

Schumacher started racing near his home of Kerpen-Manheim and won his first race at the age of five.

Between 1984 and 1985 he won the German Junior Kart Championship, offering a glimpse of what was to follow.

He would finish third racing in his first senior year, in 1986, before then reigning supreme the following year.

Schumacher, according to his official website, couldn't afford new tyres and professional karts.

He instead used discarded tyres - but that didn't stop him from dominating and soaring to superstardom in the process.

Reflecting on his early years go-karting, Schumacher previously said: "That is my world.

“It is part of my natural rhythm, my childhood and I have only good memories about that time.

"Every time I see a kart I react instinctively. I am convinced: If I had not become a Formula 1 driver, I would have driven or lent karts.

"I would not have become as rich as I am now but certainly as happy.”

While the documentary will offer glimpses into Schumacher's early and prime years, it isn't expected to delve too much into his current condition.

Not much is known about the German these days following his tragic accident in France.

Family lawyer, Felix Damm, recently opened up on why there was a lack of updates on Schumacher - and no final report on his situation.

Speaking to LTO, he explained: "Of course, we discussed a lot about how this is possible.

"So we also considered whether a final report about Michael's health could be the right way to do this.

"But that wouldn't have been the end of it and there would have had to be constantly updated 'water level reports'.

"Because as those affected, it is not up to you to put an end to the media.

"They could pick up on such a report again and again and ask, 'And what does it look like now?' one, two, three months or years after the message.

"And if we then wanted to take action against this reporting, we would have to deal with the argument of voluntary self-disclosure."

When asked about fans and their desire for knowledge, he continued: I also believe that the vast majority of fans can deal with it well and also respect the fact that the accident has set in motion a process in which the private sanctuary is necessary and will now continue to be respected.”
