Actress. She was best known to German and international film viewers for the numerous roles she played in films during the 1950s and 1960s. Born to parents, who were both in the acting industry, she started training in the profession at an early age. In 1945, she enrolled at the Max-Reinhardt Seminar to take dance, ballet and drama classes, She completed her studies four years later in 1949, at the University of Music and Performing Arts. That same year, she was voted Miss Austria, a title she would win again in 1951. Also she made her acting debut in the 1949 film "Marchen vom Gluck." She would go on to appear in numerous films throughout her career including such titles as "Rosemary," (1958) "Labryinth," (1959) "Geliebte Hochstaplerin," (1961) and "Lulu." (1962) In 1966, she made her "small screen" debut in the television movie "The Poppy Is Also a Flower." She would later appear in such television series as "Der rasende Lokalreporter," "Der Kommissar," "Es muß nicht immer Kaviar sein," "Die schöne Marianne," "Locker vom Hocker," "Das Traumschiff," and "Fur alle Falle Stefanie." During her career, she received four Bambi Award (the German version of the Academy Awards) nominations for her work in several films. During the 1950s and 1960s, she was considered in the same diva category as Italian actress Sophia Loren. She also made numerous appearances on the theatrical stage.
