Merry Christmas! We have a new photoshoot and a new interview!
Thanks to Miranda and everyone in the comments who let me know about this or made fun of me for not being in front of my laptop at the right time... AGAIN.
Emma, among others, made the cover of British Vogue as one of the "Sustainability Trailblazers".
She unfortunately didn't talk about future projects (only that she wrote a play as part of her creative writing MA), but talked about her break from acting, fashion, Sofia and "inner scorecard".
The magazine will be released on December 19.
Sofia:
"[Adopting her] is the best thing I’ve ever done. I was always judgemental about people who were really obsessed with their pets and then I became one of those people. Really embarrassing."

Fast Fashion:
"We’re still in a place where 100 billion garments are made every year. The deadstock fabric and the burning of so many clothes that don’t make it to the consumer is obviously a massive, massive problem. [Leather] is just awful for the planet."
"Perfection is the enemy of almost everything that’s important. The place where I have influence is, I’m an actress, and I work in the fashion industry, and so my points of contact are Hollywood and fashion. I do what I can to push as hard as I can within those [spaces]."
Activism:

I think I lost heart for a little while; I did feel so discouraged, if I’m being honest. I kind of expected that the whole world would be different the next day and what I have come to learn is that change does take time."

I try to think about the fact that I need to fill my cup so much that there’s a spillover that I can share. Acting break:
"Because I’m in a career that moves very quickly, the decision to take time to do these things felt like a very big decision. [Choosing] to go back and write and study and get behind the camera was terrifying for me because I’d never done it before. I had always been in front of the camera; I’d always been an actor."

"Inner scorecard":

I wonder if maybe the music video has already been released but it was not revealed the director was Emma, so the light stays only on the singer. Just a thought.
The movie will have been delayed because of the backlog of other movies. Crews will be booked solid for quite a while.

no one could act in a music video because of strikes it was likely pushed back (unless the artist did all their own acting in the music video...but still you need background extras and stuff? but it depends so i dunno...)

She is incredibly beautiful. I truly hope that she is doing everything that brings her happiness. Ultimately, what matters most is her own satisfaction, not the opinions of others. No matter what we do, there will always be supporters and critics.

she is saying she had to learn how to enjoy her life and her own personal activities when there is no audience to show these things too, its about learning to be a normal person and not just famous i think or i read it wrong
Damn people on the popculture subreddit are hating on her for not being sustainable enough. It's not that I agree but I think this photoshoot would have been better if she actually did recent activism regarding sustainability.
I also do not get what she meant during the acting part is she still going to act in 2024?

Yes she's still going to act, she just wants to be involved in the process earlier. Actors usually don't get much say once the script has been finalized, which is usually the time they're cast.
She’s been chair of Kerings sustainability committee. They are the second largest fashion conglomerate in the world. That has more impact then “activism” of her posting on social media about fashion
They mention her returning to the spotlight and she calls herself an actor and in Hollywood. So she has definite acting intentions
It was strange to bring up stepping away from acting when she was allegedly about to return many people incorrectly saying she retired today based on this poor headlines and over use of phrase "stepping away from acting" in headlines and popcrave tweets
Hmmm too much focus on stepping away! It seems the interview took place just this November and no mention of future projects, safe to assume no acting or directing gig! She looks gorgeous in this shoot but interview is nothing new, and hopeless for those who were waiting for some acting gig.
I wouldn’t say it’s safe to assume no acting or directing at all. I read the vibe as totally the opposite, that she’s had the break expanded her areas and is now coming back. Was totally natural for her to further explain the break, she’ll be asked about it for a while.
A acting job would not be announced in a vogue interview, and given this year it’s absolutely been delayed. Everything has been, like every project. People here need to be realistic.

I don't know what to think! She has taken so many breaks and now again this ambiguity. Her reasoning is like vapors drafted out. I am waiting for a concrete initiative to take place. First of all, she is doing her studies. She will be 36 when her Mst. in Creative Writing is completed. Emma seems yet unsettled in her decisions for her age.

What? She is doing master not a Bachelor. Which it takes 1-2 years max
I believe she is going to finish until the May or at max until the next Christmas
Also her masters is part time for people with jobs and specialism is screenwriting. It’s literally linked directly to her career. She clearly wants to write, direct and produce as well as act. She has a production company, she is directing. That she wants to improve her writing makes total sense.
I didn’t get an ambiguity at all like others. She took a break. She’s explained why. She’s now coming back. Where’s the ambiguity?
looking through the years, she seemed to take off after every second film after Harry Potter. She took off during her studies to do modeling and then returned by then. She has done nothing concrete other than HP and a few movies in intervals.I hope that she gets into directing, but I do not think she will get any good roles. She is getting older and has not developed her craft over the years. She was too busy with modeling and activism with a film here and there and has not developed solid skills in the field. I hope her Mst. will give her the knowledge and she has the talent to write something important. Please do not a memoir in the bookshelves unless it is about a person that has changed the world. That would be a biography.

Renais is being released in the US next year for those interested.
What? She has appeared in 11 movies in addition to HP. She has been working since the age of 9. She has achieved success at a top level in various industries that many people dream of. From top universities to top brands, top productions, and top organizations. I mean, some people would need more than 5 lifetimes to accomplish all of this, and she is only 33. Some people are just starting their careers at 33.

And how many are these people exactly? No many.because there are other people that achieve the same doesn't mean you have to underastimate her work. Try to even do one of all these and then let's speak again. How many people after a big successful film or whatever they just been known for 2-3 years and then bye. She still been in the top names around the world so many years. Do you think is easy?

My point is that she seems to shift gears a lot. That is the difference between a millionaire and a normal earning person, they can pursue every kink. So many people are modeling fashion and perfumes in the celebrity world. I just think Emma has more ability than swinging a perfume.
She isn’t just swinging a perfume though, she directed the campaign and she needs to start directing from somewhere so a major fashion brand is a very good start

Headline writers get it - they are just putting those headlines for clickbait
Saying about stepping away was a mistake it's now the main headline and makes many think she retired as they dont read further was a bad idea to talk on it
I think she had to explain it one way or the other. Most of the pieces clearly outline it was a break in the actual piece itself. And she’s rubbished retirement stuff before. It’ll be corrected with her next role anyway. She can’t not say important or clarifying stuff due to possible headlines
I just watched Alien vs Predator, and it was cool to see where Eden can from.

You're forgetting that acting has never been her passion, she wanted to leave HP when she was 15 and an actress in her 30's can't spend 5 years without a project if she wants to keep relevance in Hollywood. Everyone knows that studios want the most popular and pretty young actresses and the older actresses (30-40 years) need good movies to keep getting roles, if they don't do that they become irrelevant for the casting directors
That's kinda the point, she doesn't want to just be someone picked by casting directors for her name. She wants to pick movies where she can be more active in the development.
Producing or directing a movie is really hard, you need funding, a crew, a script and a cast of actors. It's not like the Prada commercial at all, it takes a lot more time, team work and the vision can't be about just one person

Like everyone else here, that’s just your opinion. That’s not necessarily true. You have no idea what say she actually has in Hollywood. And as an aside, the Rock gets movies made and my what I see, has a huge say. Money talks in Hollywood far more than talent.
Past box office tends to determine say. So movie stars in HW do way better than actors.

Actually, she is one of the highest-paid actresses. The movies in which she was main character were very successful. However, despite her power, she is dissatisfied with what she sees. In my opinion, she needs better options than Hollywood, where the focus is more on acting as an art rather than on money. I'm sorry to say that not many actors can continue making movies without more "emotional scenes"(you understand what I mean),I think she is afraid, which is why she is rejecting movies. But that is just my opinion. I hope that she can find whatever makes her happy

Respectfully this is one of the most inaccurate and delusional things I’ve read in a very very long time. Nowhere on earth is art more entirely about money than Hollywood. Hollywood is entirely a business. Money is king above all else, it’s god and above all awards no matter how many. You only have a career of your movies make money.
Places like the theatre and art house movies outside LA are about art and acting.

If anything Emma probably doesn’t like Hollywood because its so money driven and she wants to be more creative. That’s why most people hate Hollywood, it’s just a money machine devoid of ideas. So actors and directors balance independent small projects with Hollywood ones so they get some artistic satisfaction.
I think person was saying Hollywood is money and emma needs something outside that where acting is an Art. But agree the comment can be read both ways, so can see why people above reacted with incredulity!!
