Howard was born in Pittsburgh, PA to Carol (Cohen) and the late William Lederer. He received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania, did his surgical residency at Case Western University and was the first fellow of Bariatrics at the University of Minnesota. Married to his beloved wife, Lisa (Herman) Lederer and they raised two beautiful children Elyse and Brian.
Howard had a deep love for his family, and a passion for caring for his patients as well as his insatiable drive for knowledge about subjects like surgery, golf, astronomy, science and music. He was a renaissance man who enjoyed playing the piano, all outdoor activities and his search for the perfect golf swing. He was known for his kind and compassionate spirit and was a gentle soul to all his family and was a loyal friend and distinguished colleague of many.
Howard was preceded in death by his father William. He is survived by his beloved wife Lisa, his children Elyse and Brian, his mother Carol (Cohen), his brothers Joel Lederer (Claudia Rincon) ,David Lederer (Serena Strulovich), his sister Pamela Helman (Michael), Brother in law Bobby Herman (Rachel Fried) and his nieces and nephews; Billy, Sophie, Bella, Dylan, Eytan , Tali, Matan, Hannah and Sarah. His mother in law Susan (Herman), Father in law Stan Herman and Uncle Jeffrey Lederer (Ilene).
Funeral services will be held at Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel, 1985 S. Taylor Rd., Cleveland Hts. on Tuesday, March 16 at 2:30 PM. Those attending must wear a mask and observe social distancing.
