The upcoming adaptation of hit novel It Ends With Us has been delayed until summer.

Starring Gossip Girl's Blake Lively as Lily Bloom and directed by Jane the Virgin's Justin Baldoni, the film is based on Colleen Hoover's book of the same name.

Originally slated for a February 9 release, The Wrap reports the film will now be released on July 21.

Baldoni will also star in It Ends With Us as Ryle Kincaid, alongside 1923 star Brandon Sklenar as Atlas Corrigan, Big Mouth star Jenny Slate as Allysa, and Low Tide's Alex Neustaedter in the role of Young Atlas.

A synopsis for the film reads: "Though coming from a complicated past, Lily Bloom has always known the life she wants. While living in Boston, she meets neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid and believes she may very well have found her soulmate.

"Soon questions arise about their relationship and, to complicate matters, her high school love interest, Atlas Corrigan, comes back into the picture putting her relationship with Ryle in jeopardy."

It Ends With Us is the latest in a number of films that have seen their release dates moved following the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes in 2023.

Warner Bros has pulled Bong Jong-ho's upcoming Mickey 17 from its March 29 release date, replaced in the schedule by Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

Starring Batman star Robert Pattison, the eagerly-anticipated film is loosely adapted from the 2022 novel Mickey7 by Edward Ashton.

It Ends With Us will be released in cinemas on July 21.
