Hotpants, over the knee boots and a cropped T-shirt... Miley Cyrus sheds squeaky clean image to celebrate 17th birthday
She wasn't even born until 1992, but Miley Cyrus celebrated her 17th birthday with an Eighties-themed rocker party.
Wearing denim hotpants, knee-high boots and a skimpy black top, Miley looked a world away from her clean-cut, wholesome Hannah Montana image.
In fact she looked as it she were heading straight down the Britney Spears route on the fast-track to shedding her squeaky clean image.
After a huge bash at Disneyland for her sweet 16th last year, the 'tween' queen marked her 17th birthday with a more intimate party.
Birthday girl: Miley Cyrus wore a tiny pair of hotpants and skimpy top as she marked her 17th year with an Eighties rocker theme party in New York
The Hannah Montana star was treated to a surprise party in New York last week, ahead of her actual birthday on Monday.
Following her latest Wonder World Tour date at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island, Miley went on to the Canal Room nightclub in Manhattan where she was presented with a huge tiered birthday cake bearing her name and a group of long-haired rockers made of icing.
In attendance were her parents Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus and Miley's boyfriend and latest co-star Liam Hemsworth, who she met on the set of The Last Song earlier this year.
Miley was also treated to a performance by the cast of Broadway musical Rock Of Ages.
Making dreams come true: Miley shows off her dance moves to the Spartan Sparkles cheerleading troupe
Miley's management specially commissioned celebrity caterer Buddy Valastro to design the cake for the young star.
Valastro told People magazine: 'They didn't want a girlie girl cake. It totally fit the theme. It was really awesome.'
Miley's mother Tish explained: 'She loves the '80s. The fashion, the big hair - she thinks it's so funky.'
The teen idol is currently over halfway through her 56-date Wonder World World tour, which is scheduled to move to London next month.
Treat: Miley invited the troupe backstage after one of her concerts
During her two-week stint in the UK, Miley will perform five gigs at the O2 Arena in Greenwich.
In between dates, Miley managed to find time to spend the evening with a group of cheerleaders with learning difficulties.
Miley invited the Spartan Sparkles to learn some of her dance moves backstage after one of her concerts for an Oprah Winfrey Show charity initiative.
As Miley prepares to move from her tween image to more adult roles, she is also hoping to have her music taken more seriously.
Surrounded: Oprah Winfrey had her hands full with the group of cheerleaders
In a recent interview with American magazine Seventeen, Miley said she hoped to emulate Beyonce.
She said: 'She is the ultimate woman. You look at her and you don't think, "I wonder what her personal life is like." You look at her and you go, "That girl on the stage is a superstar."
'You don't care about anything else; you only care about her music. So I would hope that would be me in the future.'
