Hi guys I'm back. After not having a good harvest I have no alternative but 2 be back in the forum radmasa.gif .About a month and a half ago I went on an overland trip through the outskirt of desert to mashhad. On the way I noticed both
by calculation and gps that my speedo is showing 10 at 120 to 15 at 160 more than
actual speed as Stu has noted before.I was wondering is there anyway that u can rectify this fault? modifying UCH or some such thing?

P.S. what is really bugging me is the wondering bug/ant in Stu's avatar.Heinz say
something cheerful about it biggrin.gif .

what am i to say? you are a bug, you show a bug.

speedometer, a common problem, all dacias. they had smaller rims (14'')
and even on 15'', smaller tyres in mind orginally, so the speedometer
is set for those sizes, and the ones actually on the market now show some
8-12km over. 15+ i have not seen yet, that could be the special version
for those people who do not pay for gasoline anyhow.

and now during ramazan it does not matter how fast you go, anyhow.

but it sure is good to have you back!

greetings - heinz -

even if the rims are 14 the overall size is the same as the 15. at high speed it has over 15 km/s but it is a known "problem". actually it is present at all modern cars...it is supposed to make you scared that you are going fast...

or maybe i am wrong...

here it is explained better: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speedometer

The difference between real an shown speed is a legal one, is subject of a United Nations legal act that enforce this difference, and all the manufacturers should obey to it.

about 5% is due to rim size. we tried it, same cars. also see the
article ganusha quoted.

klaus is fully correct, but legal or not, one might agree that 15kmh
is a bit too much. that was ali's argument, and his question was if
there was any way to correct it: unfortunately, there is none.

unless one wants to switch to the smallest rims and tyres allowed.

greetings - heinz -

PS: if it helps, there ARE cars that are worse.

at my current car, it is exactly the same
at about 170km/h it is a ~15 km/h difference

and there is a solution if you desperately want to fix this... you can reprint the speedo dial with the indicators modified so it shows the real speed...

well, i have actually seen people do that, but usually just the other way 'round, to make the car look faster.

crazy world ...

It is normal for the speedo to be to fast av-12900.gif
But I would not worry about it as you wont be getting any speeding fines if you keep to your Tacho av-12900.gif
and dont forget you will not thrash your car becausre if you travel at 165kmh you are only doing about 150 KMH

Am I bugging you radmasa.gif av-12900.gif

Deliberately erroneous speedometer "helps" with yet another matter - the average consumption. For example, when I was traveling in my Logan at speedometer's 120 km/h, my consumption was around 6.9 l/100km, but when I was traveling at real (GPS's) 120 km/h, consumption went up to 7.3 l/100km.

It would be interesting to know if the car manufacturers declare their fuel consumption at real or their own speedometer speeds!

amadeus, thats 8km at 150+/-, and similar to most of our cars.
actually, quite reasonable. double that, as ali claims, is not anymore.

The fuel consumption is based on the distance (kilometers) and on the fuel consumed on that distance. The distance recorded has nothing to do with the speedometer, it records the exact distance. The fuel consumption is based on different rules (check the internet) and, when it cames about speed, the real speed is considered.
Let's don't start a conspiration theory...

LGN's speedometer correction is inside the range from UN regulation and could be: (indicated speed - real speed) = 0,05*real speed + 4 km/h

this formula could be validated by each driver, but taking into account all other influences (the rimm/tyre type, tyre pressure and temperature etc.)

eureka, eureka as would arachmidius say(but i'm not stark naked and dripping wet) radmasa.gif .i found a solution to both my my over reading speedo and stu's problem for changing from KPH to MPH.try visiting www.terfinc.com and view speedchanger II.stu you can flip between KPH and MPH by flipping a changeover
switch.price is a bit steep $ 175.00 plus shipping and handling.now to any of our knowledgible members:could you help me find the wire conducting speed pulses from UCH to the actual speedometer gauge? your help would be greatly appretiated.thx

Yes but this is not a visual aid (I will not see it in MPH) I will only get my speedo dropping to MPH on the dial but still a dial reading KPH
not to worry though this is all in hand
I have just got back from England and my combined fuel use is 7 ltrs per 100 km over a 2400 km journey I AM HAPPY
also GPS reading at 140KMH is GPS reading 130 KMH and I suspect this is the normal
Difference
7 ltrs in mye eyes is a very good return
Stu

Use the above formula
Indicated speed = 130 + (130 * 0,05 + 4) = 140,5
and you'll see it's normal wink.gif
By the way, the odometer isn't affected.
