Helena Christensen on pole dancing, her favourite beach and her beauty tips
Where is the best place you've stayed?
'The Colombe d'Or in the South of France. It is a beautiful hotel in the mountainside medieval village of St Paul de Vence. The staff are lovely and the courtyard restaurant has the prettiest setting, covered in vines. It's full of incredible art, including pieces by Picasso. I always make a point to visit the nearby Maeght Foundation gallery, which has an amazing collection of works.'
Where is your favourite beach?
'There is no place more magical than Pink Sands on Harbour Island in the Bahamas; the sand is made of crushed pink seashells.'
Do you do anything to get in shape before holiday?
'I box all year round and have just started learning how to pole dance, which is insanely hard. It's basically vertical ballet.'
Have you been on a spa retreat?
'Whenever I visit Los Angeles I go to Beverly Hot Springs for the milk-and-honey body treatment. I also enjoy going to Moroccan hammams where they scrub you down then rub in eucalyptus oil.'
Where is your ideal holiday escape?
'India is a destination I'm always drawn to. We used champaca from there in Strangelove's new fragrance, Lostinflowers (Strangelove is a fragrance brand my friend Elizabeth Gaynes and I founded four years ago). It's one of the rarest ingredients in perfumery, and known for spreading joy and uplifting spirits - I feel India does that to your soul.'
How do you look after your skin on a plane journey?
'I spritz my face with Nimue's Vitamin C Moisture Mist then put on the label's Super Hydrating Mask. It absorbs quickly and smells refreshing and citrussy.'
Any beauty tips for landing after a flight?
'Before I get off a plane I dab a bit of cream blush and apply some lip-gloss. Sometimes I use my favourite lipstick, La Fascinante by Chanel, on both lips and cheeks.'
Which one product do you always pack in your hand luggage?
'I'm never without my gold Strangelove perfume oil necklace. I got the idea for storing a scent in a pendant from vintage lockets that women used to wear around their necks with hand-painted portraits and locks of hair inside.'
How do you protect your hair from sun damage?
'I put raw coconut oil on it in the morning and leave it on all day. I might add a dab of lemon juice to create highlights.'
Over the past 20 years, what have been your enduring beauty essentials?
'Elizabeth Arden's Eight Hour Cream has always been my go-to travel fix. It's so versatile - I use it on my eyelids, lips and cheekbones. And I love Cacharel's Anaïs Anaïs; it was my ever first fragrance. I've been using it since I was 13 years old.'
