Maragon pupils at Talent Africa

Drama pupils perform at Talent Africa competition

Four pupils from Maragon Private Schools won big at the recent South African Nationals Talent Africa at the (SANTA) held at Roodepoort Theatre’s Pro-Musica Auditorium from 21 to 26 March.

Their performances secured their selection as part of team South Africa.

They will now jet off to New York to participate in the International round of the competition at Talent America representing the country.

Grade five pupil Luca Roets won two gold medals while grade six pupil Nienke Janse van Vuuren won five gold medals and one silver medal.

Their accomplishments were followed by another grade six pupil Hanno Janse van Vuuren who won four gold medals and two silver medals.

Nico Henley who is in grade seven won two gold medals and three bronze medals.

These pupils were also part of the team who won the Overall Best Junior Group and Overall Best Senior Group.

These pupils represented Linda Theron Drama Studio.

Overall the studio qualified at Gauteng Regional with 32 students, whom all qualified for their SA colours to compete in New York, USA.

The studio won an astonishing amount of medals 142 gold, 50 silver and 29 bronze.

Their drama teacher, Linda Theron was beaming with pride at the success of her pupils.

“They are very dedicated students always willing to take on any part and to stand in when students withdrew. I am proud to say that they are part of my studio,” she said.
