Outfielder Matt Kemp, a 2018 All-Star the Cincinnati Reds acquired in a blockbuster trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers this past offseason, only made 62 plate appearances as a Red before he suffered a broken rib and the team released him.

Cincinnati Reds designated hitter Matt Kemp (27) walks through the dugout in the third inning of the spring training opener between the Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds at Goodyear Ballpark in Goodyear, Ariz., on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019.

Now, the New York Mets have released Kemp, who made just 36 plate appearances for their Triple-A affiliate after they signed him to a minor-league deal.

The 34-year-old Kemp hit .235 with one homer and three RBIs in eight games at Syracuse.

Kemp hit .200 with one home run and five RBIs in 60 at-bats for the Reds before missing 11 games with the injury before his release.

In 14 big-league seasons, the 34-year-old Kemp has hit .285 with 281 home runs, 1,010 RBIs and 183 stolen bases.
