A farmer has 27 sheep. All but 10 of them die. How many sheep does she have left?  


The place value is 60,000!

Give the place value of 6 in the number 361,489.

2,000 + 140 = 2,140.
2,140 – 30 = 2,110.
2,110 + 80 = 2,190.
2,190 + 440 = 2,630.
2,630 – 16 = 2,614.

It's 2,614!

Take 2,000. Now add 140 to it. Take away 30, and add another 80. Now add 440. Finally, take away 16. What's your final total?

It's possible to get a match on only the second time, but you're guaranteed a match on your third attempt.

Your sock drawer has 24 white socks and 24 blue socks in it. How many times will you need to reach inside the drawer and take out a sock to guarantee a matching pair?  


While there are only 64 individual tiles, those tiles can be combined to make larger squares, equaling 204 total squares.
