An exceptionally clear selenite specimen containing a beautiful array of colorful rainbows which can be found when observing the crystal near a source of light. We source only the highest quality, authentic selenite from New Mexico. The market is flooded with selenite and it is a consistently popular stone that you can find in almost any crystal shop; however very little is true selenite which is translucent and the crystals form in extremely thin sheets stacked against each other. The vast majority of “selenite” is really satin spar that is fibrous, opaque, and either a white or tan color. While they are both varieties of gypsum, the difference between the two is night and day both in the physical and metaphysical sense. Real selenite is much more rare, especially varieties that are window clear. Sadly, many people including those in the crystal industry confuse or intentionally mislabel satin spar as selenite. Making matters worse, almost all of this cheap satin spar comes from Morocco, often using exploited child and bonded labor.

Our selenite has been polished in water to soften the primary crystal faces and to remove loose crystal chips and surface scratches. Otherwise this selenite is still in its raw form.

Caution: Selenite is a very delicate and fragile mineral. Use care when handling and avoid prolonged contact with water which can erode the stone.
