OPTICAL ILLUSION

Chloë Grace Moretz Low-Key Faked a Pixie Haircut on the Red Carpet

It's actually a pixie-ponytail hybrid that weirdly works.

The breakneck pace of celebrity arrivals on the Met Gala red carpet will do things to you. For instance, it will make you think that Chloë Grace Moretz decided to chop off all of her hair for the occasion. It's a move we would have supported, of course, but upon closer inspection, we could see her slicked-back pixie was actually a well-concealed ponytail.

It came courtesy of her hairstylist Gregory Russell, who showed off Pureology products in his Instagram story. The rather Gaston-from-Beauty and the Beast look is certainly an optical illusion. It also paired well with her Louis Vuitton get-up, which consisted of a ruffled top, long coat, and pants. Sure, it may not have been gilded age era, but it was certainly a throwback to the French Regency period, so close enough for fashion folks.

Along with the hair, Moretz wore a pale pink lipstick that matched the touch of blush on her cheeks. Makeup artist Mai Quynh was responsible for the look, using Grande Cosmetics to do the job. Moretz’s thick brows were enhanced with Grande Cosmetics GrandeBrow-Fill Volumizing Brow Gel, and her blush was GrandePop Plumping Liquid Blush in Tiramisu & Sweet Peach. For the lashes, Quynh used Kiss Falscara in Short on Moretz.

All in all, this look was not what it seemed at first — and somehow, it was better. Leave it to a Met Gala surprise look to make us stop and stare during a night of bold looks.
