“Nikita” star Lyndsy Fonseca has joined ABC and Marvel‘s “Agent Carter” in a recurring role, Marvel announced Friday.

The actress will play Angie Martinelli, an aspiring actress who befriends Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) in the midseason “Captain America” spinoff.

“‘Marvel’s Agent Carter’ opens up an exciting world of new characters for us,” said Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s head of TV. “Lyndsy brings a warmth and humanity to Angie, who’ll be the friend Peggy needs if she’s to survive the dangers that lie ahead.”

Fonseca joins other recently announced “Agent Carter” cast additions James D’Arcy, Enver Gjokaj and Chad Michael Murray. The series stars Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter as she attempts to balance routine office work for the Strategic Scientific Reserve with the secret missions she undertakes with inventor Howard Stark, played by Dominic Cooper.

In addition to her series regular role on The CW’s “Nikita,” Fonseca had notable roles on “How I Met Your Mother,” “Desperate Housewives” and “Big Love,” and appeared in the “Kick-Ass” franchise on the big screen. She’s repped by ICM Partners and Management 360.
