After handling the irascible House, M.D. for eight seasons, we’re betting Robert Sean Leonard will find Law & Order: SVU perps a cakewalk.
The actor, best known for playing Dr. James Wilson on the medical drama, will appear in a May episode of NBC‘s long-running procedural, per The Hollywood Reporter.
In the episode — which will also mark the brief return of Dann Florek’s Capt. Cragen — Leonard will play ADA Kenneth O’Dwyer, who once sent a man to jail for raping his own daughter, but must revisit the case when the daughter recants her testimony.
Since ending an eight-season run on House, Leonard has appeared on The Blacklist, Falling Skies and The Good Wife.
Ready for more of today’s newsy nuggets? Well…
* The cast of Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron — including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner — will make their first appearance together to promote the movie on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday, April 13.
* The Price Is Right will kick off its first-ever Couples Week on Monday, April 13. Each episode will feature a different theme, including singles set up on blind dates, an anniversary party, a salute to military couples, a baby shower and a mass wedding officiated by host Drew Carey.
* CBS announced Tuesday that its video-on-demand and streaming service, CBS All Access, will be available on Roku devices. Users will be able to view episodes from current and past seasons of CBS shows, in addition to streaming local CBS stations, for $5.99 a month.
* Want more news about streaming video? You got it: HBO Now, the premium cabler’s standalone streaming service, is officially available. If you’re not sure how it works, allow Last Week Tonight host John Oliver to explain:
LOL SVU bringing in him isn’t going to help you out. Why bring in another lawyer anyway. Court scenes have been boring as $h!t for the past couple seasons.
Couples week on The Price is Right will be the best week EVER in the iconic game show’s history but it’s going to be WAY better than Dream Car Week, Big Money Week and the downright terrible U Decide Week back in February where people go on Twitter to choose what they want to see on the show (think Rachel Reynolds’ yodeling was BORING). Wonder if Price is Right is planning to pitch REDEMPTION WEEK sometime in the near future where former contestants from the past 40+ years who failed big time to win prizes after their one bid item especially going OVER on his or her Showcase(s) or didn’t make it the Showcase round or not appearing to play a pricing game after being stuck on bidders’ row come back for a second chance to win amazing prizes.
BTW, my message to Manuela Arbelaez and the rest of The Price is Right models: STOP WAVING ON CAMERA. These beauties are always OBSESSED by doing it on every episode they’ve been on.
Hmm… I just feel like Robert Sean Leonard coming to play an ADA on SVU is fodder for the mothership revival NBC is mulling over. He’d certainly be a good addition to the cast [of L&O’s reboot].
As for this SVU episode, people have really got to stop analyzing EVERYTHING in these episodes, it IS a TV show when it boils down to it — despite what it does not only for the NYC community, but across the nation when it comes down to starting the conversation about sexual assault and the process before, during, and after reporting it to law enforcement.
Leonard is going to be in ONE EPISODE. He isn’t coming in to replace Esparza. He would be LOUSY as an ADA on a Law & Order Reboot. When FOREVER is cancelled by ABC(soon) Alana De La Garza will be available to return, and they can put back her back with Linus Roache and Sam Waterston on the ORDER side of L&O. Waterston has already said he would be willing to come back. Dick Wolf has already learned the familiarity is VERY NECESSARY in the Law & Order franchise, and he’s not going to bring in all new people unless NBC isn’t willing to spend any money(I mean no more than $100,000 per episode per person) to bring it back. That would be a mistake, but NBC has made lots of those lately. Why stop now?
