The Aechmea fasciata is also known as the Silver Vase or Urn plant, because its broad, grey-green leaves have a silvery coating that looks like frost or silver.

It has a tall, upright flower spike that grows from the centre of the rosette of leaves that can last for several months. That means you’ll be able to admire and enjoy this beautiful plant for a long time in any home or work space.  This plant is native to Brazil, so it naturally thrives in the temperate warmth of the Torrevieja area!

Aechmea fasciata prefers bright, indirect light. Place it near a window where it can receive filtered sunlight or in a well-lit spot indoors. Avoid placing it in direct, intense sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.

Aechmea fasciata appreciates higher humidity levels. To increase humidity, mist the leaves regularly or place the plant on a tray filled with pebbles and water. Just make sure the bottom of the pot is not submerged in water.

Water Aechmea fasciata by pouring water directly into the central cup formed by the rosette of leaves. Ensure that the central cup is filled with water, but avoid overfilling to prevent rotting. It is crucial to use non-chlorinated or filtered water to prevent the build-up of minerals on the leaves.

Aechmea fasciata thrives in average room temperatures ranging from 15 to 24°C. It is not tolerant of extreme cold or frost, so protect it from drafts and keep it away from cold windows during winter.

Remove any dead or yellowing leaves by gently pulling them away from the base of the plant. This helps maintain the overall appearance and health of the plant.

After the plant has finished flowering, the original rosette may decline. However, new rosettes, known as "pups," will often emerge around the base. Allow the pups to grow until they are about one-third the size of the parent plant before separating them and potting them individually.
