Submitting Newsletter Articles

Faculty and staff can submit newsletter articles online at http://newsroom.unl.edu/announce/cse/submit. This page requires the user to log in with a My.UNL (Blackboard) account in order to submit an article. Once logged in, users can choose to submit one of two different types of news: a News Announcement or an Event Announcement. All other announcements that aren’t associated with an event would fall under the News Announcements category.

Events would consist of things like the weekly popcorn social, defense presentations, and so forth. If an event is posted to the department’s calendar, it’s possible to link an Event Announcement for the newsletter to the events on the departmental calendar (events.unl.edu) so that they refer to each other. Contact any member of the support staff (Sally Hawkins, Shelley Everett, Deb Heckens, Jodi Holt, or LaRita Lang) to have an event added to the calendar before you submit an article.

To allow time for editing and layout of the newsletter, articles must be submitted by Noon on Tuesdays in order to be considered for publication on the following Wednesday. Articles received after this deadline will be considered for the following issue.

Job Announcements will continue to be posted to the internal department Job Postings system. This will allow for immediate availability of new job announcements, regardless of when they are submitted. As submissions are received, we can tweet about them and share them on Facebook. Depending on the number of jobs posted in the last week, they could be submitted as individual announcements in the newsletter with direct links back to the posting on our website or a single announcement could be included in the newsletter with an overview of the new job postings with a link back to the jobs index page.
