Kingkool The Hague City Hostel

The guy working there last night (September 27) needs an attitude check. He seems to think he's King Kool himself.

I came in late looking to book a room, and they had availability. He said it was past their check-in time but offered to sell me a private. That sounded good, and I asked if they had any in-person discounts. Pretty standard thing to ask for, and I asked for it politely.

He went on about how he was making an exception for the late checkout and told me he could give me a "discount" of X. Well it turns out I had already seen the room selling for less than X on Hostelworld, so I told him I'd like to try to book it online (once again, politely).

Well King Kool felt threatened by that, I guess. I have no idea what he was thinking, because he then told me we "couldn't come to an agreement" and went on about how he was going out of his way for me, and how I was being unreasonable by trying to get the price they sold it for online (??) ... and then told me to leave and go to another hotel!

He could have simply said "this is the best we can offer," and I would have said "OK" and bought the room. Instead he kicked me out for no reason. Maybe he didn't like to be exposed for lying about a "discount" that was more than the online price.

Dear management: when a customer offers to take a room you're not going to sell tonight, who is doing whom a favor here? Glad I didn't give King Kool any business.

Went here for a quick overnight so did not have that much time to explore the Hostel. Decent location but a good 15-20 minute walk from bus station. The themed rooms were cool and seemed like a good atmosphere in more popular tourist times. Clean rooms with communal showers on one of the floors
