Drew Barrymore says she went 'catatonic' after seeing Taylor Swift at the Grammys

"I just watched her walk by."

Even Drew Barrymore can’t help getting starstruck around Taylor Swift.

The host confessed to her cohost Ross Mathews on Friday’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show that she spotted the “Cruel Summer” singer while at the 2024 Grammy Awards but couldn’t work up the courage to even say hello.

“Do you want to hear a quick fun fact, Ross?” Barrymore asked. “I saw Taylor Swift at the Grammys — I went catatonic again! I didn’t say hi!”

Mathews then began to question what happened at the event.

“I watched her walk by and I go...” Barrymore responded, slowly craning her head with her mouth wide open as an imaginary Swift crossed the room.

The actress revealed that it’s an unfortunate side effect when she happens to run into her favorite people. “It’s Michelle Obama. It’s Taylor Swift,” she said. “When you, like, love somebody so much — if anybody else out there goes catatonic, well I’m with you because I did it again. I just watched her walk by.”

“And you spoke for a nation,” Mathews teased.

This isn’t the first time Barrymore has shown her Swiftie side on the show. The host, who is currently shooting in Las Vegas ahead of this year's Super Bowl, dedicated a significant amount of time during a November episode to explain how Swift could make it from her Tokyo Dome concerts for her Eras Tour to Sin City in time to cheer for her BF, Travis Kelce, on the big game's sidelines.

"So if she left Tokyo at midnight…" Barrymore said at the time. "...the flight time is 11 hours and 35 minutes approximately from Tokyo to Vegas, so she might arrive at 10:30 p.m., but on February 10, leaving her a full night's sleep. So she really could make it to the Super Bowl if — just if — it happens to come true."

Maybe this time, Barrymore will finally be able to meet Swift too.
