My daughter recently returned from a vacation in Italy and brought me this Burago Alfa Romeo Giulietta Carabinieri police car. In my research it looks like a 2010 year vehicle.
Besides municipal police, Italy has five police organizations: the Polizia di Stato (State Police, similar to our various state police forces), the Carabinieri (national military police, under their Ministry of Defense), the Guardia di Finanza (financial crimes police, under the Minister of Economy and Finance), the Polizia Penitenziaria (prison police), and the Corpo Forestale della Stato (Forestry police, under the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Forestry, essentially the environmental police). In addition, the Polizia has various regional Squadra Mobile units, responsible for criminal investigation.
In 2012, while in Italy, I found a couple of cars at a souvenir shop not far from Rome's Trevi fountain. These include a 2006 Alfa Romeo 159 Sportwagen JTDM 1.9L Carabinieri and a 2005 Fiat Grande Punto Polizia, both by Welly-Fassi.
Going back to the 1960s, I have a 1962 Alfa Romeo Giulia Ti Carabineiri, and a 1962 Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint Polizia Stradale Squadra Mobile 'Panther', both by Politoys.
Nice stuff! The Bburago Alfa's are great castings for the money (with those nasty speedwheels though)!
Between the Bburago and Politoys in age is this Mebetoys Hot Wheels Alfa Romeo Giulietta (older version)...
It looks great ! And that is a terrific color, too.
