What Things Can You See On A Day Out In Ravello?

There are two main Villas in Ravello which capture the attention…both of which I will be discussing in this post. You may be thinking why would you want to visit a villa?..(Well thats what I thought when we were recommended to visit these places!)

A Day in Ravello

Alas now it makes sense! They are the equivalent of stately homes in England. Vast expanses of beautiful old buidings and grounds full of stunning flowers, statues, the works!

Villa Rufolo, Ravello

  • Villla Rufolo, Piazza Duomo, 1, 84010 Ravello SA, Italy

Villa Rufolo has wonderful wow-factor flower displays and quaint little staircases around the grounds. There are some SERIOUSLY insane viewpoints and a couple of benches to relax and take in the view.

Villa Rufolo is a lovely place to spend an hour or two just milling around. As you can see, there are stunning little areas to explore, from courtyards to flower gardens. And would you just LOOK at the views. I mean wow.

Lunch at Ravello’s Beautiful Villa Maria

When its lunchtime, do not miss a trip to Villa Maria! You can see my full post on Villa Maria here. The best view by the edge of the restaurant terrace overlooking the sea, cliffs and hills is truly stunning and worth waiting (or booking) for! And oh my gosh the FOOD.

Ravello Hotel Vila Maria

It really feels like Villa Maria’s is verging on fine dining quality and presentation here. This was one of the most memorable, beautiful places to eat throughout our trip around Italy. The food in both presenation and flavour, really lived up to the restaurant’s unique and authentic setting.

Best restaurant in Ravello

Do yourself a favour and do not miss this unforgettable location in charming Ravello. I promise it will be a meal to remember.

Villa Cimbrone, Ravello

  • Villa Cimbrone, Via Santa Chiara, 26, 84010 Ravello

This 12th Century residence is a real jaw-dropper! It has incredible pergolas, flowers and you can easily spend hours just wandering here.

A Day in Ravello

It also houses the famous Terrace of Infinity, with its many head/bust sculptures which is absolutely epic! For this reason, Villla Cimbrone is my top spot to see in Ravello.

Upon entry to Villa Cimbrone, you receive a handy little map which can be useful to help navigate your way around.

A Day in Ravello

I would say both Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone are absolute must-see’s when in Ravello. The entry fees are around  €5-7 and it’s totally worth it to see these stunning historic villas.

We visited at the very end of September, all the flowers were out in their full glory and it was a fantastic time to visit.

As it was near the end of the season, I believe it was likely less busy compared to what it would be in the height of summer.

Finish Your Day Out With A Cocktail in Ravello’s Piazza Duomo

Why not end your day in Ravello with an espresso martini in the main square in Ravello like we did? (ok fine, so we may have STARTED our day that way, but same same, no?)

A Day in Ravello

There are so many lovely little winding streets around Ravello with some shops here and there, but without the touristy vibe that you would usually expect from a town like Ravello.

A Day in Ravello

So spend some time wandering and taking in the charms of the town. Take your pick from the few cafe’s in the square for an al fresco aperitif and reflect on a bloody lovely day in Ravello!
