The developer reposted a user's message requesting a re-release of the game on modern consoles saying "It's on the list." Later, the official Nightdive Studios account retweeted the message. The team hasn't officially announced they're working on it, but it appears they're quite interested in the possibility at least.

The Darkness was originally released in 2007 on PS3 and Xbox 360 and has not received any reissues. You can currently play the shooter on Microsoft consoles through backward compatibility, but you might have to deal with some graphical issues when playing on Xbox Series X.

In 2023, Nightdive Studios released updated versions of System Shock and Quake II. They also recently unveiled classic shooter Star Wars: Dark Forces will get a remaster, so you will be able to play it with a 4K resolution at 120 FPS. Learn more here
